[NF] back in the dev game

Any more, I am a lurker and have been so for the last 7+ years.... my last line of anything relating to writing Fox code would have been 2009 at the latest... I thought I would pop in and say that after more or less 11 years of IT work, I am finally returning to software development as a profession rather than bloody IT... oh man, how I hate IT.... But I'm sorry to say that I will not be in the Fox world which is a disappointment... I had hoped to come across something, ANYTHING, that would let me fill out my career with my beloved Fox but at least as far as I can see, it just ain't gonna happen. That would have been nice... start more or less with Fox, end with Fox... Sigh.... After a 9 month hiatus from employment I'll be starting on the 1st with a local company that does Cost Accounting software for municipalities... I actually got my start writing SBT accounting software so at least I know a thing or two about accounting... back in the software dev biz is a big plus, but the downside to this gig, at least for now, is it doesn't pay crap. I made this much 15 years ago without breaking a sweat, but that was then, this is now... let's just say I will continue to keep my eyes and ears open... I will be doing work in Delphi, think Pascal. I took a class in Pascal 33+ years ago in college and remember absolutely nothing about it other than semi colons at the end of lines... my new employer doesn't seem to care and thought with my background I'd be a good fit... I have a couple points I would like to make... do yourself a favor and learn something besides the Fox... Don't be like me... I am pretty much a one trick pony (I fake it well in Access but dang, it's Access)... Also it's been great being here since Day One from the Big Breakoff from whatever-the-hell-it-was-called 17 or 18 years ago, but other than popping in, I'll be saying goodbye to the Fox. Those of you that remain in the Fox world have come a long way, and the Fox has done all of us well, hasn't it? What a wonderful product, only to see MS turn it off and wither away... damn you MS... I'll still be here, but instead of reading all the messages I'll be routing them to a folder for time to time viewing... if you need to get in touch, search the archives and go with the gmail address... I'll try and help if I can... other than the automation series (a pretty big hit) I did over at VFUG (with Ted holding my hand in places) I haven't contributed much to the overall effort, and frankly I've forgotten most of that stuff anyway... if you bang on automation long enough you'll figure it out - that's pretty much what I did... NF - Does anyone have experience with Wyse thin terminals?

I have 15 identical Wyse VX0 V90L XPEdevices that I purchased used on Ebay. I have been trying to get all the parts lined up so the terminals can connect to an FTP server and download their configuration but I keep going in circles. I'm thinking to connect with an expert on JustAnswer.com or a similar site but thought I would mention my situation here in case someone can help or point me to the help I need. I don't know if the devices have been locked so that it is not possible to get to the configuration or if I simply have not tried the magic combination. The devices are supposed to connect to a DHCP server and get the usual IP address etc. They are also supposed to receive the address of the FTP server on option 161. I have setup a test network with a DHCP server giving out the info complete with option 161. This was verified with a program called DHCPtest which outputs a discovery command and reports what it gets back from the server. The FTP server is running on my laptop and its function has been verified by FTPing in and executing the documented commands that the system needs. This verifies that the FTPserver is accessable and has the proper information in the appropriate place. When a Wyse devices attempt to boot I monitored the info it got back from the DHCP server and discovered that it does not get the option 161 even though the discovery command from the test program does. I setup Wireshark and discovered that the Wyse version of the discovery command specifies the parameters to be returned and the 161 option is not included. My conclusion is that there must be a configuration in the device that controls whether or not an FTP connection is attempted. I simply haven't figured out how to get to it. Probably something really simple. Any help will be appreciated. Dear Kitsune: ("kitsune" is Japanese for fox.) Earlier this year, my printer packed it in. I got a replacement. I may have made an error by committing HP. I bought an HP Envy 5540 printer. Printing was going just fine until yesterday when I ran out of ink. I got some replacement cartridges; genuine HP cartridges I might add. Printing still goes fine EXCEPT for every print job, I get a form popping up thanking me for purchasing the aforesaid genuine cartridges. The form can be dismissed. I got to do that a few dozen times yesterday, and the novelty has palled. Does anyone know how I can turn this form display off? Please! Sincerely, Gene Wirchenko

[NF]Converting Thunderbird email to ThunderbirdPortable email?

Anyone know how to do this? I was able to convert Outlook Express, no problem, works great. I researched converting to ThunderbirdPortable and all the examples I found with Google don't work. There must be a way, export to something and then import? --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus

Cannot Locate the Microsoft Visual FoxPro Support LIbrary

Good Morning, Have several legacy VFP6 applications my users run. A mixed bag of VFP6 and VFP9 generated executables. The main application everyone can run, have another executable in a folder under the main application, most people can run. Now have a new person who cannot run the one in the sub folder, he can run the main! Checked the folder where the other application runs and have located vfp6 and vfp7 dll's, including the respective versions of the "renu" dll's in the same folder. The shortcut starts the correct exe and starts where the dll's are located? It "should" run. Does anyone see anything blatantly wrong?
