[NF] Just like VFP...

Well 12+ hours in from Brexit and the world hasn't ended and life seems to be carrying on much like before... in fact even the weather is the same i.e. Crap! As for VFP, been up and running on Windows 10 64 Bit now for a week and no problems to report at all apart from the fact that it runs much faster than on Windows 7 (same machine and memory). Only gripe is that Windows has automatically rebooted twice for updates (presumably) overnight as I put this as the preferred update time and subsequently reloaded my two USB security disks which were encrypted but with the wrong drive assignments and leaving them locked by Bitlocker. Hence my overnight backups haven't been successful - Hey Ho, Life goes on! Dave

Registry errors in Windows 10

Hi all I have several apps written in VFP8 with the Codemine8 framework, when the application runs it comes up with the initial registration screen normally not a problem just complete the screen fill in the path to local data and click finish. Windows 10 now throws up a message saying it can't find file appreg02. I've attempted to trace this through but cannot find anything. Has anyone come across the same error message please? VFP 9 FREAD/FWRITE Undocumented Limit

While doing a low-level routine for copying data between files for showing advance, I've descovered something interesting: Documentation says that FREAD support 65536 bytes (64 KiB) max.length, but the limit in VFP 9 is really 16777184 bytes (16 MiB), iow, 256 more times! And another interesting thing is that this limit is the same of the max.size of a string variable: Maximum # of characters per character string or memory variable. 16,777,184 A "little" detail that the FoxTeam forgot to document. [NF] Chromebook

I've had a Chromebook now for almost 2 years without any problems. For surfing the web, watching TV and doing remote desktop, it is wonderful 8 hours of battery life and light and portable. I just bought another one, this time a 15.6 inch model from groupon.com. The deal is for a refurbished model for $120.00 and in my case Groupon had a sale to drop it to $80.00. Can i load a copy of Windows 7 32-bit on a new machine and have it reasonably likely to load? A Strange Excel Data Problem...

So - here at my day job my main task is to support this one team of users. And, they're job is the Most Time critical here in this co. As such, things must always be done in a timely manner - and support of them is critical in that they Can not have the system down at any point in time. Well - part of the system outputs an Excel file that must be sent to the clients. There is a problem that they have had over time. It's kind of intermittent. Although - yesterday it happened to Four of the users about the same time. So - they were kinda freakin' out. Problem is - they can't generally replicate the problem. So - if they can't give me instructions on how to re-create the problem, its Nearly impossible to try and fix the problem. Anyway - here's the issue. In a number of Cells in the spreadsheet - it contains the following as a value: #NUM! And - yeah - that's exactly what it looks like - and I just copied it right from the cell. Has anyone seen this kind of problem before??? Lastly - we are using VFP9 - and the Excel file is created using the COPY command. Also - did a Google search - and one hit was M$ and a help page - it claimed: Excel shows this error when a formula or function contains numeric values that aren't valid. But - of course, its Straight data being exported - NO Formulas! Any input would be greatly appreciated.
