We already have Cygwin but it is pretty slow (and quirky).
e.g. Building something like GCC under Cygwin takes forever. On a Debian virtual machine running on the same hardware it sped through.
Is Micro$oft sure about that? Was his memory wiped before leaving Oracle?
Companies don't usually let go of valuable employees... :)
