It looks like you are using Outlook 365 (I always wondered what happens on leap year) and that goes through outlook.com and that post-processes through websphere.com (eu2.mailsphere.mx) before getting to leafe.com and relaying, for me, to Gmail. Your original message has a softfail on SPF, reporting that "domain of transitioning flexipol.co.uk discourages use of 51.141.5.228 as permitted sender" and there's no DKIM, so your postmaster needs to do some work on making your mail look legitimate. Your message would have to traverse the return trip, and it's possible there's a setting at outlook.com or Office 365 that prevents you getting messages that claim to be sent by you, whether they are going through a mailing list or not. A quick web search reports zillions of problems with O365 and its internal distribution lists or groups, which are apparently different things, and also with shared mailboxes, and that may be drowning out reports of this particular problem. I don't know if it is allowed by the Powers That Be, but if you could temporarily set up another mail client, like ThunderBird, you could see if it was outlook or some other application in the mailing list chain causing this issue. UCLA & FoxPro...

Yup - if you can believe (which I am sure you folks can - since Uni's at time tend to be a bit behind in Tech.) - they actually have a job opening with FoxPro being the core of the job. Just finished doing a Skype interview with 4 people. Was actually kinda fun! They will probably be contacting me for the next phase. In which they also let me know I will be doing a kind of programming test - then a 2nd interview. At this point - I kinda figure that they will Have to progress to the next step with me! Just figured some of you folks might find this tidbit of info. interesting! -K-

Hi all VFPers, Had trouble posting the original message here, but here is a shortened version. It can also be found at: https://www.foxite.com/archives/success-compiling-a-vfp-example-to-net-0000… I thought while looking through all the Examples on the Downloads area that the above mentioned example might be a good mix of typical XBase style VFP and VFP features/functions that were not part of the original DBase language, when the fork into various XBase style languages started back in the 80's. As some of you might be [un]aware there is a "new" opensource XBase language XSharp (X#) started in 2015 from the discontinued Vulcan.NET language that has its roots in the original Clipper/CA-Visual Objects fork. It is based on the opensource MicroSoft C-Sharp (c#) compiler project called Roslyn that can be found on GitHub. XSharp available from http://xsharp.info XSharp already have full featured "Language Syntax" selection for [x]Harbour (a Clipper fork based on the Borland C++ compiler), XBase++, CA-Visual Objects, Vulcan.NET and in true form XSharp.Core. The next language to be addressed is VFP. Two IDE environments are available, MicroSoft Visual Studio and XIDE. XIDE is 100% X# developed. X# can be defined as The XBase syntax c# compiler. Fabrice Foray, the Visual Studio integration developer, was invited to present X# at the French VFP Conference in May http://www.atoutfox.org Request was already submitted for 2 sessions at swfox later this year. I took a "timed" conversion of the ValidateUTF8 example and was able to have it 100% converted into XSharp/.net in about 45 minutes. What are your impressions? Johan Nel.

Creating a copy of a database -- best practice?

I can easily do something like this: CREATE DATABASE C:\Backup\MyDBC.dbc OPEN DATABASE C:\Production\MyDBC.dbc liNumTables = adbobjects(laTables,'TABLE') for ii = 1 to liNumTables lcFile = forceext("C:\BACKUP\" + laTables[ii],'dbf') use laTables[ii] copy to (lcFile) database C:\Backup\MyDBC.dbc with cdx use endfor ...and that would get me a copy of all of the tables with their indexes. Great. But what's the easiest way to get all of the DBC meta-data into that new Backup database copy? I can't USE the MyDBC.dbc and do a COPY TO as that only makes the result a DBF and FPT. Trying to think about a good disaster recovery plan (besides using CleverFox from Rick Schummer and Frank Perez...which is probably the best option!) for automating backups at the client who just got that ransomware virus. tia, --Mike

Creating a copy of a database -- best practice? - checking email - did not come through before

Ok, I haven't done this in a while, but I think I have done this a few ways. First, by "metadata" of the database, I assume you mean stored procedures, maybe table triggers, database comment field? I'll also assume you are trying to run from within an .exe (so commands like COPY PROCEDURES TO... and APPEND PROCEDURES FROM ... will not be available) So... 1) if you know the "data model" of the dbc, you can open it like a table - then look for the metadata items you want (the stored procedure code, trigger code, etc). Do a SCATTER MEMO NAME ... Then open the other DBC as a table and do an APPEND FROM NAME ... After everything is copied that way I think you will want to do a PACK DATABASE or maybe VALIDATE DATABASE on the backup. I seem to recall doing that. 2) after you've copied all the tables, copy the "database files" with "COPY FILE <orig> TO <backup>" - copy the dbc, dct, and dcx this way. Again a PACK or VALIDATE database may be needed afterwards. And of course, be careful with this, test it out, etc. But I definitely used this approach before. 3) if you are not worried about the tables being opened at the time of doing the backup, you could just do the "COPY FILE <orig> TO <backup>" - that command allows paths in the from/to. Also, I think it allows wildcards, so you could do a complete copy in 1 command.
