The problem with starting out with a TLA is that people might not know what you are talking about. To me, at first glance, "RDP" means "recursive descent parser", but you are apparently referring to something else. There are other overloaded TLAs: IDE Integrated Development Environment Integrated Drive [later Device] Electronics RPG Report Program Generator Rocket-Propelled Grenade (Some might say to use the latter if you have to use the former.) [NF] Why don't more folks use RDP?

(I asked this in a different thread but didn't want to hijack that one so I'm starting a new thread now. Also, I searched for RDP in the ProFox archives for all time for both word and phrase and it found no matches. Years ago Ed had to adjust the site for 3-letter-word searches (JVP anyone?) so I'm wondering if during his last migration this tweak got lost?) Discussing RDP with a couple guys recently, I have to wonder why more don't go the RDP route? Seems like a better setup with that central control. The client I took over from Jeff Johnson (RIP) uses RDP and it sounds like a better option--no workstation computers, just thin clients so no maintenance time needed on those workstations. [NF] Learn about Stored Procedures

Here is a very simplistic tutorial on how to make stored procedures in SQL SERVER. You can apply the same concept to most other RDBMS you want to use. https://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertutorial/168/different-options-for-creat… If you do this you can stop writing SQL CODE in VFP and pass it to the backend where that db engine has to make a plan to execute the query every time. If you have that SQL Code in a stored procedure the db engine can look it its stats to determine the best plan to execute the code. I have some long stored procedures that are in the 3000 lines long arena that are called for every Bill of Lading report we print. Granted it combines Sales data, testing data, item specifications data as well as customer and our employee system data. This generates a CofA or Certificate of Analysis report for every lot number on the truck. Sprocs are great because they make it much harder to hack into your backend data. Using WPF controls on Foxpro forms

Hi all Does anybody know (a) if this is even possible and (b) how I would go about creating a DLL that would allow me to drop a UserControl onto a VFP form. The UserControl would need to act as a container for a WPF RichTextBox together with a few buttons. Has anybody ever done anything like this? Thanks Paul Newton

Alan, At some point, the updates need to be implemented. Enterprises can delay it. Small companies with no (or limited) internal tech usually can't. Or they come up with kludges to stop them. But in essence the Windows 10 you have today will not be the same Windows 10 you have in 1.5 years. I am wondering why they even bother with keeping the 10. Why not call it Windows build 1803 (in your case).... The 10 is just irrelevant now. Just my 2 cents... [NF] Looking for current summary of VFP clones

Hi all, I was asked for a list of current options for someone who has a VFP application and wants to migrate it to a supported language, with the least amount of re-work. I have seen many options listed, but am sure how compatible the various alternatives are. X# looks promising, but so do some of the others. And some that I thought were good options now appear to be dormant or discontinued. So I thought I would check with you fine folks to see if you know where I might find a list of current alternatives and their level of compatibility. VF9 - Running an app on a schedule....

Have a small app that queries a table, pus it in a spreadsheet and emails it out. Worked fine for several months using the Windows Task Scheduler. Now all of a sudden it's refusing to run the app. If I run it from outside of the schedule it works fine! Is there a way to run the app using another VFP app?
