VFP6 / Codemine7 kill switch

Hi I have a legacy app written in VFP6 with Codemine7. The customer has just asked for some new reports but I'm finding it will not compile on Windows 7, 8 or 10. It throws messages which may be Codemine related saying Session not initialised. It also complains about not being able to write to the registry. SP5 will not install because MDAC is not installed, MDAC install just freezes or quits the install with no error. Is anybody aware of any reasons or whether there are any kill switches in either product. I've got a Windows XP (yes I know) computer on the way to try it on that. VFP, SQL SERVER AND AZURE

I succeeded in creating a SQL Server 2012 instance on Azure and uploaded two "living"databases that currently run in lan under SQL Server 2012 Express I can connect from VFP to the AZURE SQL Server, read records from a table and add new records to it However, this does not work: select c.account,c.company,s.salesman,s.commission from database_1.dbo.customers c join database_2.dbo.salesmen s on c.salesrep = s.code I get the following error message: Mens. 40515, Nivel 15, Estado 1, Línea 16 Reference to database and/or server name in 'database_1.dbo.customers' is not supported in this version of SQL Server. Apparently, the AZURE SQL Server cannot retrieve data from two different databases in the same select statement. Both databases reside in the same instance of SQL Server. Database_2 contains "confidential" data, such as managers's salaries, salesmen's commissions and the like Is this so, or I am making some stupid mistake? How can I solve it? Pamechu Umgobwe

Apparently this doesn't work anymore when clicking on the ProFox Email List (under Community in the Task Pane startup): https://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox Who do we contact to fix that? (Or is it too late since they turned off the lights in Redmond for the VFP team?)

Trying to create shortcut text

My days are filled with T-SQL coding now, so I wanted to create a shortcut key sequence to insert the [dbo] in front of things when needed. This doesn't work: ON KEY LABEL KEYBOARD "[dbo]." Ideas? tia.

Scope Resolution ::

Wow...got a tip from my boss to subclass something and use the Scope Resolution operator to call the parent class. At first, I was skeptical as I thought it was kinda kludgey, as the last time I saw :: code 15+ years ago, I was like "what the heck is that?" but after implementing it today, that is one super awesome feature. Been doing VFP since 1999 and loved that today, I've increased my knowledge in VFP land and love it even more. You're never too old to learn something new. (I'm only 46) :-)

Don't remember seeing this mentioned here before but it looks interesting. https://www.xsharp.info/forum You may have heard of Vulcan.NET which is an xBase language in more of the Clipper vein and which supports Visual Objects projects. Anyway the consensus among developers is that Vulcan.NET is dying or dead, and so some of the developers have struck out on their own to implement an open-source .NET implementation of xBase. "In April 2015 a group of concerned customers and some members of the GrafX development team have talked about starting a new open source project to give the xBase language for .NET a new future. This initiative is called XSharp. This was partially inspired by the fact that Microsoft has published the source code to its C# and Visual Basic compilers under an open source license (.NET Compiler Platform "Roslyn"[1]). The plan is to create a new development language (compiler, runtime libraties, IDE, tools) where the compiler is partially based on the Roslyn source code." While it will initially support Vulcan\Clipper\VO type syntax (which is in the VFP ballpark but not identical) they also intend to support VFP syntax next. I would imagine it would be core VFP syntax, dropping all the legacy stuff like @ .. SAY and defunct SYS() functions and so forth. I *think* they intend to support DBF files natively. AT 78+ AND STILL MOTORING, NOW ON WIN 10, WITH VFP 5.0, SOMETIMES COMPILING ON WIN 2K OR XP, I FEEL THE NEED FOR SPEED, OR AT LEAST A LITTLE TIME WITH VFP 9.0 SP2, BEFORE I DIE. IS THERE ONE OUT THERE FOR SALE? 5.0 SEEMS TO GIVE WIN 10 REGISTRY A BAD TUMMY ACHE. OUR HARDWARE WORLD IS STILL RS232-DOMINATED FOR LOAD CELL CONTROLERS AND PLC'S, WHICH MEANS USB CONTROL REGISTRY TWEAKS THAT ARE IRKSOME, TO SAY THE LEAST.
