Trying to write Excel automation code in VFP9SP2 from Excel 2013 VBA macro code

VFP9SP2. Data is in MySQL (MariaDB) database on a different machine (at 10.8.20.109). Trying to use VFP to generate Excel files for 55 different outputs (providers), with each workbook/file having a tab for each record type (which is usually 3 types: 1, 2, and 3). My initial concern is how to deal with the named parameters in the first ListObjects.Add line, as VFP doesn't work like that. Note that the _ is a continuation character for VBA code (like the semi-colon is for VFP code), so that first WITH line goes to the QueryTable word. I used VFP to dynamically create the views for each of the 55 providers, so there's about 165 views. Trying to do all this via automation for ease and accuracy. Nobody wants to create 165 imports and 55 saves manually!!! I already created a ODBC connection called tim_dsh to connect to the remote database. (Yes, using the root user remotely isn't good practice. Move on from that. This is internal!) For this example, provider is 210001 and views are v_op_<provnum>_<rectype>. Hey all, It’s that time of year - the Valero Ride to the River 2016, which is a distance bike ride to raise money to fund research into a cure for Multiple Sclerosis. I missed the ride last year as I was in the middle of moving to a new house, and didn’t have time to train. I almost missed it this year, due to a minor surgery on one of my toes, but it’s healed enough for me to get back to training. The ride is a two-day event, with a choice of 100 or 71 miles on the first day, and a choice of 61 or 38 on the second. I’m going to be conservative and just go for the shorter ride each day, since I’ll have had less than a month to get into shape. And since I did the full century in my ride in May, I don’t have anything left to prove ;-) The ride is on October 1-2, and I need your help! I have a goal of $300 to raise, and based on past experience, that should be no problem for this generous community! VFP9 on Windows 10

Hi gang I seem to be having an annoying failure in VFP9 on windows 10. After running the program in dev I call the taskpane. The taskpane is closed at the start of the prog and called on close. But, it stays blank and what's worse it locks up VFP. Anyone else having this. Never happened in Windows 7 or 8 so this is new and seems to be just the taskpane in environment manager. Oracle question

Hi everyone, I have a task to sync two tables in Oracle. There are two sets of tables. One is the set used by the application. The other set of tables are identical but each has an action field that is used do show if the row should be an add, update, or delete. An interface tool is populating these. I must take these interface tables and update the originals. I hope that makes sense. Anyway, in FoxPro, I could just loop through each row, run "scatter memvar", locate/seek for the matching row in the original table, and run "gather memvar". Does anyone know of an approach in Oracle like that or perhaps have some advice on doing this?

I've gotten interested in Android's potential to teach me programming instead of just games and social media. I enjoyed the SoloLearn LearnPython app. Their PHP one wasn't as good, but i felt I got something out of it. I'm currently using Enki, but I'm not sure i like their 5-a-day workout style. Sending Faxes from FoxPro

I'm supporting a vertical niche app that sends faxes. (Yes, faxes. I've gotten a lot of snarky comments from folks who can't believe in the Third Age of the Internet that people still rely on faxes to do business, but it is true: the recipients of orders are factories far from modern internet hubs and faxes are still the best alternative, even though error-prone and primitive. The system also supports order-by-email and EDI. So, that out of the way,...) MaxEmail has announced they have been bought by eFax, and account costs are going up significantly. A $14.85/yr personal account will be $84/yr. A larger account will go from $69.95/year to $19.95/mo, with $0.10/page charges over 200 faxes. I'm still working out the cost implications. Generally an additional $15/mo charge won't break the backs of any client, but if there's another alternative available at a reasonable price, it's incumbent on me to consider it. I've checked the Wiki and the last Fax entry was dated 2008. I've checked the leafe.com forums and mostly it's me recommended Maxemail :). There's also send2fax, which I'm going to check out, although it looks like the same company, rates are better. Hmmm. Anyone else sending faxes? How are you doing it? Leading Zeroes

Hello: On Foxite, Shaheryar Rashed started a thread "slow save at network". While I had nothing to add in general, I did note some awkward code: mvoucher = Right('0000' + Alltrim(Str(Thisform.voucherno1.Value)),5) How do you do leading zeroes cleanly? This is a thing that has bothered me. One would think it would make an excellent option for transform(). There is @L but transform(123,"@L") generates "0000000123.00" which is not anything that anyone is likely to want. Usually, I want leading zeroes on integers. transform() is not the answer; padl() is. Suppose you have 123 and want "00123". padl(123,5,"0") does it. Since the VFP documentation does not specify how the first expression is stringised, you might prefer padl(transform(123),5,"0") Sincerely, Gene Wirchenko
