Any of you stand-up desk users standing on a balance-board type contraption or using a specific mat? I'm at a standup desk 8-12 hours/day and looking to improve the ergonomics of this situation. Thanks!

Hi Malcolm!
Here's my quick show & tell: https://www.screencast.com/t/A37Y6rHRfJ
I do find that this "work from home all the time" is making my heels hurt a bit, so I force myself to step away from breaks every hour or so to mix it up.
That Costco standup desk is GREAT! The bubble mat from Home Depot is decent (but I still would love to find something better). I do have good tennis shoes on with great padding. There's so much padding, they look like "special" shoes. lol

Your show & tell was awesome!! Thank you for taking the time to pull that together!
I'm using a VariDesk 48 as a standing desk. Works well.
Here's what I'm considering for a balance board:
Standing Desk Anti Fatigue Mat – FEZIBO Wooden Wobble Balance Board Stability Rocker with Ergonomic Design Comfort Floor Mat https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07HD838VP/

Hey that wobble mat looks interesting. Post your feedback here if you go with that. I'd be interested to see if it worked well for you.

I have a nice thick floor mat for use with my VariDesk back at the office, Unfortunately I'm not sure of the brand but it could also be VariDesk. It's got a thick raised border and a big rubber mound in the middle. One edge also has a much wider thicker border. You can basically give yourself a foot massage as needed. Also, the key for me has been to keep moving my feet and not locking my knees. Don’t skimp on the floor mat or you will have a lot of foot issues.

Followup: t came in yesterday and I'm a ***big*** fan. There's even a hole so you can hang this on the wall. I'm going to use this to lock it to my desk. Damn quarantined family members keep "borrowing" all my stuff!
Highly recommended!
Malcolm
Really? This seems counter-intuitive. Standing and wobbling reduces fatigue. I mean, I WANT to believe - it seems like it would be healthier than sitting, if you can get the desk to work out . How long have you been using one?

I have one of those 48" Varidesk contraptions so I can shift between sitting and standing positions. I go in cycles ... standing for a few months ... and then sitting for a few months. The standing part takes some time to get used to. Don't go from 0 to 12 hours your first day. I also wear compression leggings when I'm going to be standing for long periods of time. Not sexy ... (definitely not sexy) but they do make a difference. The wobbling prevents your legs/knees from stiffening up.

And sore feet...

Reply in a week after use...and THEN I'll consider it!!! Without shoes, I'm thinking my feet would get tired and/or achey due to no arch support.

Richard -- I *WILL* say that I like this mat when I do NOT have shoes on. (Maybe that's the way to do it!) I did NOT like it when I wore shoes.
I'm guessing you do NOT wear the shoes on it and hence enjoy that foot massage THAT way. ;-)

No, I have the shoes on. Or at least I did when I actually went to my office. I've been seated since we all got sent home in early March.
