Ok, confession time: I've never had to un-compile a Foxpro .exe file. I've prided myself on doing a pretty good job of backing up and protecting my source code. Until today when I ran into a situation with a client who has an application I last compiled in 2018. At some point after that compilation, I must have accidently deleted one of the forms used by the application. I still have a previous copy of the form from 2016, but there changes made in between. I've checked every backup I have and apparently the deletion must have occurred more than a year ago.
I was aware that ReFox exists and since I do have the 2018 version of the compiled application, I figured I would try ReFox to extract the form so I could edit the 2016 version of the form to update the old version to the latest version.
However, every time I try to download the latest version of Refox, it gets either blocked by my browser or it immediately gets deleted by my antivirus even though I've told both to allow the download. So my question is this: Is ReFox the way to go or is there another way I can accomplish this?

I have latest refox. Works very well. Over the years have decompiled but rarely. Mostly use for protecting apps.In terms of antivirus have had to set the directory it runs in to not be scanned. If you have access to a command window in the app, and the app was built with debug information. You may be able to access the form without Refox. If you have the ability to edit a report that is outside the App, you have the ability to "MODIFY FORM" where you will get access to save it as something different. If you are in a VFP session, and you DO APP.EXE, you may be able to still have the Command Window available to run the Modify Form.
Christof did a presentation demonstrating this many years ago.

I had the same issue with Refox last time I needed it and ended up setting up a Windows 7 sandboxed virtual machine on my linux desktop just for Refox. I could never get Windows 10 to open it, and I wasn't totally sure there was not a real threat with Refox so better to be safe than sorry. If anybody else has an easier solution I'd love to hear it. Paul if you don't get anywhere with Tracy's solution and would like some help or would like me to decompile on my Windows 7 machine I am happy to. -Jeff
