Hi All
Does anyone have a way of creating a horizontal scrolling text which is smooth?
Thanks
Chris.

Can you expand a little on this? What kind of text is displayed? Are you using a textbox, editbox, label or what? How you want to scroll horizontally?
A real example of a Windows control that do what you need should be useful for better understanding.

Understood re:Ticker - or a bottom scroll like on CNN. I suspect I understand your issue - that if you use a standard way - and if the text moves 1 char space at a time - it doesn't look that smooth. You could theoretically use a Container - and in the container use a Text Label field - and make it REALLY Long - and just move the position of the item from right to left. Just a thought. Maybe even use some kind of Timer - to control the movement...

Just as a Test, instead of doing it as a form, and a Container, and using a Timer - here's some basic code - and instead of the timer to wait a moment - I just used Wait:
CLEAR Long_Text = "Breaking News - This " + ; "evening a 24 year old young man was " + ; "floating in the " + ; "River. " For I = 100 TO 1 STEP -1 @ 50, I Say Long_Text wait WINDOW TIMEOUT 0.1 ENDFOR
Not sure if this is a smooth as you were looking for!?!?

For this --1 char at a time-- scroll to look good, you should use a non-proportional font, because anything else will make awful steps

Chris, This may help:
https://www.foxite.com/archives/scrolling-text-0000233627.htm
but it requires a purchase to access it unles you know of someone who already has membership
This does what you want but isn't super smooth - but it's free... https://www.foxite.com/archives/scrolling-text-0000233626.htm

Another solution is to embed a browser object in the form and use a javascript text marquee.
