Ted -- sorry...found this draft I started 4 months ago and never pressed Send.
Somehow the issue has been resolved. I did upgrade to TeamViewer 11 recently. Not sure if that was the fix or not? So glad the upgrade price was a few hundred instead of the $1000 they initially wanted. :-)

Mike,
Are you using Teamviewer only for remote support or if in any other ways please let me know.
I use anydesk or anyadmin to fix problems.
Thanks

Short answer is NO, I use Splashtop Business here which incorporates Splashtop SOS after I became totally disillusioned by the pricing policy of Teamviewer which at that time was only superior because it included file transfer.
However, the last few revisions of Splashtop not have this facility available as background jobs.

Dave,
Just need a clarification.. Did you mean to put the word NOT there, or should that have been NOW?
Tracy Pearson PowerChurch Software
FWIW I've found Splashtop's file transfer to be seriously deficient. When they first added the feature it was quite buggy and slow. The last time I tried it, it was better behaved but it doesn't properly handle folders with many files. It just stops listing files over some limit. I don't know what the threshold is but it isn't all that high.
I've also found that Teamviewer's mechanism for hooking into the keyboard and mouse events can cause odd behaviors like a left click resulting in a right click particularly when multiple remote access solutions are installed.

Interesting. Thanks.

TeamViewer was a steep hit up front (paid about $1000 I think for version 10), but the $200-something upgrade to version 11 was worth it for the Connection reporting so I could look back and properly bill for MBSS time spent using TV with customers across staff. I will say that the reporting needs some tuning though, for my liking. Still, the connection minutes, notes, and end-user info helps towards my goal.
Hi Bobby,
I use it to remote into clients and fix things, but also to switch screens and show them something on my screen perhaps too (like the next development item in Testing, for example).

ok thanks.
Mike u are into MySQL for your apps. Are your clients connecting to local databases or online databases.
If local databases then if someone wants to connect from another location how can it be done. Add IPAddress to the connection string?
If online databases how are you setting the firewall settings for allowing ipaddress.
I tried MS Azure. I have a dynamic Ipaddress so I realized every time I reconnect to the internet I have to reset the firewall settings in Azure to let my pc connect. I was planning something similar for my client when he travels. If he connects from a hotel he wont be able to keep resetting the firewall. How to go about that?
Similarly how to prevent any hackers from accessing the local database vide internet & deleting all data.
Thanks
This is open to all. maybe I will have to open a new thread.

Ajoy, Simply set up a VPN then you don't expose the SQL server to the big wide world. The Microsoft VPN offering is really simple to set up and robust/reliable to boot.
Doing it this way simply makes your external PC an extension of the local LAN so you don't need any complicated firewall hacks and it is available everywhere using the same credentials.

You can set up a VPN in Win 7 no problems... Go in as though you are adding the machine into a new network and specify it as a VPN. If the other end is also using Win 7 then the VPN details will be easy to set up.
