I find myself using Chrome more than anything else - it is cross-platform and seems to remain light and fast even with plugins. You might want to minimize the 'phoning home' aspects.

And why not Mozilla Firefox? It is multiplatform (windows, Linux, iOS), multidevice (mobile, pc, tablet) , open source, has a lot of plugins even for web development, and do a lot for your privacy.
