Any M$ Dymanics devs out there in ProFox land? I'm wondering if this is M$'s equivalent to Salesforce? We use Salesforce at my daytime Corporate gig. My former employer has implemented Microsoft Dynamics to replace the legacy VFP app (and it's going BADLY).
Just thought I'd ask "the Fox room" for anyone with experience to weigh in on their thoughts of it.

Dynamics is the M$ ERP platform. It is massively configurable and little programming is required after you UNDERSTAND what you are configuring to get it to act as you want. We at Ring are in our 11th year with Infor's LN and we probably only have 60% implemented as of now. I am hitting the wall on lacking the logistics system not being implemented yet. When that system is running it will generate output that will make inbound EDI orders correct in the shipping date. Today the order provides the receipt date.
From that date, the logistics system states the shipping date. Too bad
that in a not working state the orders show the date the PO was received as the shipping date.
Your system in VFP had what 5-10 years of customization at a minimum right? WAG here but you will need 5 years to get the core of your business running correctly in Dynamics. Only the senior management decides what that core is. Could it be GL, SO, and AR? Or is it Production and raw materials inventory that is more important?

Hi!
I do have consulting experience in MS-CRM & Sales Force based on my in-house Experience to the same being implemented at a couple Client Organizations.
Dynamics has an exclusive CRM Module as well as an ERP Integrated once.
MS-CRM is like an ERP in itself & requires to be configured from scratch with capabilities for customization going to the extent of creating custom fields. Has the capability to be set up for Data Exchange (EDI) with other Applications.
Unlike Salesforce offering Cloud capabilities on a multi-tenanted environment, bringing down the TCO, MS-CRM has to be hosted by the Client Organization, which does increase the TCO substantially.
SalesForce also has lower initial setup costs in comparison to MS-CRM.

We have a 1 man FTE for CRM here at Ring. He does probably 20% of his work for Sales and 80% for production data presentation. Right now he is attempting to tie data for CRM between our Vorne boards and our NWA testing environment. This will give a cross-reference between testing counts being low and the line having a problem or not.
Neither of there products is a part of our ERP system, they are necessary for use but do not tie into LN.
