Years ago, I used Qarbon ViewletBuilder to create training videos for my software. It's time for me to again do so, but I no longer have Qarbon's ViewletBuilder, so I'm asking what other folks would recommend. I will say that Qarbon's product was pretty easy to use.
Here are the products I'm considering, and wondered if you had OTHER ALTERNATIVE products to consider:
Qarbon ViewletBuilder ($399 for new, $199 for upgrade): http://www.qarbon.com/presentation-software/viewletbuilder/ TechSmith Camtasia ($199): http://shop.techsmith.com/store/techsm/en_US/buy/productID.289432000
I like this kind of presentation demo instead of just still screenshots in a PDF.
Thanks in advance for your ideas! --Mike
I used Camtasia a long time ago (v3.something) but my memories of it was that it was easy to use.

I use Camtasia and also Snagit. Both good.
Snagit is limited to 15fps but that is more than good enough for most things. Not as full featured (in video) as Camtasia but a viable alternate and comes with the benefit of being an excellent screen capture product.

I get the impression Camtasia is more popular, but that could just their marketing in action.

I already have SnagIt and love it but have only done screenshots without any animation. I'll have to look into that. Thanks!
If you're just after screenshots then IMO GreenShot is as good as any of the commercial offerings and is free. Sling em a few bucks if you find you're using it of course.
I have been using Greenshot for the past 1-2 years. way to easy and having the editor to fix an image with circles and arrows, Group W Bench reference, is is great.

CamStudio is freeware, but might not have all those fancy functions.

I'm just now following up on this e-mail thread. I used Camtasia in the past - I think I only used a demo version at the time. But, was thrilled when someone turned me on to CamStudio. It did seem very similar to Camtasia - but, its open-source and thus free. So - I suggest Mike that you check it out. And, yeah - Man-wai, you beat me to the punchline on this one - but, I'm glad you posted about it!

Speaking of Camtasia and SnagIt, TechSmith is having a Cyber Monday sale today, 20% off.
A great tool for every toolbox.
