I've been using dual monitors for many years now, but I've been working with monitors with two different layouts. Both monitors were 22" wide but the primary monitor was more square format whereas my secondary monitor has more of a wide screen format.
Apparently, after I started talking about upgrading my gear, the main monitor heard me, got mad and decided to give up the ghost yesterday.
Fortunately, I had a used 27" monitor on hand which I stuck in place temporarily and the size and brightness and contrast have been a huge improvement. In fact, this used monitor is making my secondary monitor look like crap.
So, my question is this: What size monitors are you using for development and how many? The new computer I've purchased has 2 Display Ports, 1 HDMI and 1 VGA. So I'm considering getting two matching monitors which support Display Ports. Any comments, thoughts or suggestions about Display Ports?
Thanks in advance!

I'd say go for it - you can't have too much screen real estate! Don't know about Display Ports, no experience.

Your docking station should take care of any port issues...assuming you're using a laptop?

When it arrives, a single 43 inch Dell running at 3840x2160 replacing 3 monitors. A 29-inch over a 34-inch ultra wide with another 29 turned portrait for system monitoring. 1920x1080 over 2560x1080 with another 1080x1920 on the side. I am looking forward to the simplification on my desk along with the ability to sub-divide the space on the new monitor.

Windows 11 has features built-in that will facilitate subdividing monitors into regions to make everything easier to manage. They might have even squeaked into Win 10.

Desktop, not laptop. I'm just curious whether anyone had used DP ports and what was the general size monitor and number of monitors in use by the Foxpro community. I'm really starting to like this 27" monitor I have in place. But, I'm not sure I want two large monitors of the same size. I'm working quite nicely with the 27" as my primary and a 22" as my secondary right now.

27" 5K Apple Display (made by LG)... If I need a second monitor I open my macbook. I've never been a fan of multiple monitors, though. To me it's so much easier to have virtual desktops and just swipe to the one I need in fractions of a second without the need to refocus my eyes or look for my mouse pointer.
I agree with Christof. My home PC is 3 x 27" monitors but I love the simple ability on my 27" Mac and Macbook to simply swipe between screens. The equivalent virtual desktops in Wondows aren't as simple to use but I have recently added a Logitech trackpad to the home PC and set it up to use the virtual desktop switching using the same gesture as on the Mac.

Guys,
Debugging apps where the app is running on one desktop and the debugger on another desktop is no fun. In these cases 2 monitors are MUCH better.
And when you are writing a debugger and you need to debug the debugger then even 2 monitors is not enough. Then you need 3 monitors to properly do so.
Just my 2 cents.
