What do you guys use at home for multi-function printers (those that can also scan/copy as well as print...faxing too I guess although I have a fax service for that).
My wife insists on a color printer, and I told her I prefer lasers and do NOT want inkjets given my experience with inkjets in the past. (In the end, I don't think inkjets are that much of a better value if at all, and I like the fact that lasers don't smudge or run when touched if wet.)

Typically, I've loved the BROTHER printers over time. Here's a Xerox I found on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Xerox-3635MFP-Multifunction-Printer-Scanner/dp/B0019A....
I have used Brother B&W laser for maybe 5 years now and find it easy. I also have a color ink jet on my wireless but that is for special needs and the user has to change the printer to get it. That keeps it safe from SWMBO.
I had to do that to stop my wife printing out a recipe from a site that was pure food porn. 10 pages of images is a bit overwhelming I believe.

LOL! Yeah, I told her "why don't we get a color inkjet (for her teenage son's high school printing needs...any maybe an occasional MBSS color print need) and the Brother B&W laser for the bulk of my printing needs. I've loved the Brother printers for years, myself. Yes, HP has a great reputation for printing too.
Yea, but HP drivers still suck bad.

I've used a HP Photosmart 1440 for years. Prints, copies , scans no problem. Don't know about fax - I use email with attachments if required.

Loyal Brother fan for years. Purchased the HL-L2380DW (black&white duplex laser) about a year ago. This specific model is a piece of crap. Very disappointing.

That is. Can you expand on that? We got a 2360DW and haven't run into problems yet.

This printer disconnects from our wireless network several times a day and occasionally locks up during printing.
Print traffic is single to several page output from up-to-date Apple and Microsoft based Mac OS X applications.
We have other devices on the same wifi network all operating without issues. Printer in question is about 6 feet from Apple Time Machine wifi router with up-to-date firmware and sitting next to an older model Brother printer on the same wifi network that works perfectly.

Ah, perhaps I dodged that bullet. Both our printers are wired. Save the wifi for streaming cat videos on the phones <s>, er, working on the laptops.

I bought a Brother printer last year, after hearing so many positive things about them here on ProFox. I unfortunately had the exact same experience with the wifi connection as Malcolm did, and ended up returning it. Bought a Canon imageCLASS MF249dw instead, and it's been working like a charm.

I found that setting a static IP for it made my wifi problems go away.

I set static IPs for all my devices. Once it dropped the wifi connection, I had to do the turn it off/on shuffle, and it would be fine - for a few minutes, at least.

Researched it. I was right...cheaper to buy him a color inkjet and me a b/w duplex wireless brother laser...and still saved over $200!
I've used Brothers for many years and been very pleased with them.

OfficeJet Pro Premier inkjet back in '08 for $290. Buy $140 in ink every other year. Replaced two printheads last year, $132. 8000 pages in 8 years; we've got a Brother B&W for bulk and monochrome jobs. So, $0.14 per page seems high, but two client meetings were clearly sold on reports/printouts in color (Priceless!), and $10 a month is pretty cheap to pay for that. Plus a decade of reliability, although like everything it's likely "they just don't make them like that any more."
Fax/scan/print/scan-to-network/photo cards, duplex, wired & wifi, mail-print, Cloud print, web interface. And good open source drivers!

My recollection with inkjets was that they sure ate up the ink...even if I wasn't printing pics or the like.
