Lenovo's having a 25% off sale today only on their new ThinkPad 470, in observation of the 25th anniversary of the ThinkPad. I've owned a bunch of these, and really liked the fit and finish and reliability, right up to the point where they started loading spyware in the BIOS/EFI as well as glop on the OS. Solid machines, and the pointer stick rocked.
Bill Machrone observed 30 years ago that the laptop you want always costs $5000 [1]. Max out this baby and you might be able to hit $3,000. It would be a heck of a machine, too!

Speaking of PC Magazine (which I read religiously and actually kept from 1985-1991 and looked awesome on the shelf w/ all the white spines), I see they have a writer named Jennifer Seymour. I looked to see if she's the daughter of writer Jim Seymour, but couldn't find anything confirming that.
