Any reason why 'createobj("excel.application")' doesn't work with this combo ? Cannot test it myself as i don't have it.

When the Office is 64-bit, this will fail.

I didn't think anyone used office 64bit as it has NEVER worked correctly. ..... I agree if this is the case though...

Ther only reason for Office 64bit is if you need to use truly gigantic Excel sheets
You'd need to trap the COM exception it throws and investigate based on that.
Got my hands on an identical laptop - identical configuration and users have next to no rights ;) - today . Tried it and it works. Will have to make some test app to see which error it throws at the users machine.
