Well, lots of the passwords are for things on the client's site, when I'm on the site, so that's when they come into play. There's a dozen or so computing devices in the office here, too, with interfaces and passwords, so plenty to do even if the ISP is taking the day off.

Double-bonus: I've provided many of the clients with photocopies of the cards and told them to keep them safe for the next "computer guy" in case I step out in front of the proverbial bus.

I use LastPass, a cellphone for 2FA, and... an index card box full of pen-and-ink password notes. The latter has never been unavailable when the internets on the blink, never ran out of batteries, I've never forgotten the cable or adapter, and it's pretty invulnerable to 440-pound hackers in Cleveland. So, yeah...

It's a risk-benefits calculation.
