Well 12+ hours in from Brexit and the world hasn't ended and life seems to be carrying on much like before... in fact even the weather is the same i.e. Crap!
As for VFP, been up and running on Windows 10 64 Bit now for a week and no problems to report at all apart from the fact that it runs much faster than on Windows 7 (same machine and memory). Only gripe is that Windows has automatically rebooted twice for updates (presumably) overnight as I put this as the preferred update time and subsequently reloaded my two USB security disks which were encrypted but with the wrong drive assignments and leaving them locked by Bitlocker. Hence my overnight backups haven't been successful - Hey Ho, Life goes on!
Dave
Same machine and you think the same app runs faster on Win10?
Awesome. My laptop at home is just under ram pressure and I believe I have to tweak video settings to fix that. Otherwise I find it much better than W8. Just having the search br to type in instead of just typing on the empty screen to pull up software is what like better. I have a bunch of 2012 servers I maintain both virtual and true iron for some of my apps. Glad I don't have to muck with the other 120 virtual servers we are running.

I've been running W10 both in my laptop (64 bit) and my desktop (32 bit) for some months now and I had no major issues, appart from the fact that conversion eliminated all Windows apps I had in operation (Office, Skype, etc) and others such as Thunderbird, and had to reinstall them. And yes, everything runs smoothly.
The only caveat is that it updates itself automatically even though I had been running Windows 7 Professional in both machines. I believe there is a way to prevent W10 to update itself automatically but it appears to be quite involved.

It is, but it is something you need to be able to do. Hard drives just stop, sometimes, or the cat pees in the power supply (bad for both, that was!) and you need to have a plan of where all your docs are backed up and where all your apps can be reinstalled from. If not, who is it you should blame for your nightmare?
I upgraded an ancient machine (it has a genuine Windows XP sticker on it) from 32-bit W8 to 64-bit W10, and it was a process, and it tooks some planning and preparation, but I've got a spiffy and speedy clean install. Now using ALL its RAM, it's a much more fun machine.
Dan Freeman, A Prince Among Men, spent some time as a traveling trainer, and had to install piles of stuff on a regular basis. He said that Freemanizing (tm) -- erasing everything and starting from scratch -- was the best way to eliminate whole classes of problems with performance, un-installable software, irreproducible bugs, and DLL Hell. I agree.
I agree - the Freemanizing concept sounds like a good idea.
Besides - doing this upgrade might be a good way to make sure I back things up first - which is a GOOD Idea indeed. Admitedly, on my laptop - where I plan to do the 1st upgrade - I actually do NOT have that much SW installed on there...

Just to clarify: I had been running W7 Prof in both machines (64 and 32 bit)
I installed W10 and for about a week _most_ apps ran smoothly. However, in one of the updates, about a week after W10 installed itself, when I started the computer the f....g updating message started and took about half an hour until the computer was in operation. Then I realized that all my Windows apps were gone: Word, Excel, etc, etc. Some of the drivers were also gone such as the printer, fax, etc. I had to download W10 versions. Even my Kaspersky dissapeared and had to download a W10 version. I was naturally very pissed as you might have surmised by now.
But after reinstalling painstakingly everything back, I have no issues. As a matter of fact, I like the way W10 behaves.

That sounds a lot like a family tech support call I got earlier this week. In this case, AVG was promoting its premium version (free had been installed) and lots of links were missing from the desktop and the Win10 tile-thingie interface (do we still call it Metro? Modern? That stupid tile thing?). Much panic ensued, but it appears nothing was actually deleted.
Automated updates. What could possibly go wrong?
What a dumb idea.

I did an update in situ from Win 7 x64 and had no problems at all but I used the Windows 10 CD to run the update not the auto net based update.
All apps worked apart from SnagIt which needed a simple re-install.

Dave, I spent the last 4 days working on upgrading several Win7 Pro systems to Win10 Pro, and late last night I finally found the right combination of pieces to make it all work well. I upgraded my personal workstation using the online upgrade, and not a single application suffered in the process (and I have a gob of various programs installed on my 1TB drive!)
I did find that it's a very good idea to use an Administrator account to do the upgrade. Also, if you have Logmein installed, the Win10 upgrade will fail complaining about incompatible video drivers. I tried downloading and burning a DVD to use for the upgrades, and it always asks for a Registration Key even when updating a valid installation. After it rejected 5 different keys, three brand new and had never been used, I gave up on that approach.
Only 180+ systems left to go...
I agree that VFP9 SP2 seems snappier and so far I've seen just one true bug in the VFP+Win10 combo...which is that the caption bar control box buttons will revert to their old XP style if you define and display a form maximized...but if you maximize the form after it has already been displayed, the control box (min, max, close) buttons will show with the new Win10 minimalized look.
Probably the best thing in my opinion is that when a command, like a slow SQL statement, takes more than a few seconds, you don't get that stupid Windows 7 "not responding" thing on the caption bar. Things still take a while, but Windows just takes it in stride better.
I would HIGHLY recommend getting the free for any type of use and very well done Classic Start Menu at www.ClassicShell.net. I spent hours trying to figure out how to limit the damage end users could do with the new Win10 start menu, but after replacing it with Classic Start Menu my problems are mostly over. (I'm still trying to eliminate OneDrive from appearing in the File Explorer.) Also, check out the Ultimate Windows Tweaker 4.1.1 at www.TheWindowsClub.com. It will save you a lot of time with the Group Policy Editor (if, like me, you aren't using a domain.)

There may be, but I'm not using AD and these are all actively-being-used Win7Pro systems. Each one has some slight variation, like the printer(s) that are installed, etc.

The way that the EU does referendums is to keep running them until you get the "right" answer. Happened to Ireland.
