Hi guys. Just wondered if the upgrade to VS 2015 from VS2013 is available in the USA. Over here in Europe it seems we can only buy the whole VS2015 or an upgrade that included MSDN. I don't want MSDN and I don't see why I should pay the whole lot when I have been on VS for years. So can an upgrade be had without MSDN ? Al
Al, Take a look here: http://saveintheusa.com/

Have a look at this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/31796243/has-microsoft-published-any-info...
Apparently possible, but very well hidden, like trying to log out of Facebook.
This seems to be all I can find from my uk supplier too. Seems 2013 - 2015 upgrade is not available. Ok what other choice is there. I want something with the clout of c#, not java or scripting. Al

I hear FoxPro's pretty good...
If it was not for competitors pointing VFP's death to clients I would agree. It can't be beat for ease and speed. Al

Till the client asks for a phone app or one to run across tablets, phones and the desktop.
Or just use the community edition which AFAIK is fully-featured.

It is indeed. Limited to 5 users though.
I got the impression you could use that if you were making free stuff. But for commercial no. Is that correct or not? 5 users is ok as its only me. Al

Ostensibly yes. For a one-man outfit would they *really* give a shit even if they could check? Doubt it.
There's also SharpDevelop.

Thanks Steve This looks good. What is the definition of Organisation though. I am one person so the individual seems to be fine. But I own a company. Does that still count as Individual, or Organisation? Al

In non-enterprise organizations, up to five users can use Visual Studio Community. In enterprise organizations (meaning those with >250 PCs or >$1 Million US Dollars in annual revenue), no use is permitted beyond the open source, academic research, and classroom learning environment scenarios described above.

It's still as clear as mud. 5 users can use VS Community. Yes but for what. Paid for? Doesn't make it clear to me. Only one that does make it clear is individuals. Hhmm on the details it says up to 5 can develop and test. No mention of sell. So it looks like individuals can and companies cant. Al

If you employ more than 5 programmers they want you to buy a traditional copy.
If your company internally uses enterprise versions of software then they want you to buy the traditional copies.
For you it is good to go by yourself for your clients.

This was going to be my suggestion. for a one man shop who doesn't use "team" tools this is a great way forward.
