Stephen,
I did work for Stanford University in the mid 90's, (scpd.stanford.edu, then known as SITN) putting together a FoxPro Mac enrollment system. A fair amount of the Silicon Valley employers enrolled their employees for the on line courses.
It was somewhat common knowledge there that a well known Silicon Valley executive then had several payouts to the women who worked for this company. This person is still there today. Before you ask, I won't tell because I don't know myself and this person is known to be litigious...but if it comes out that's a different story.

To be honest I thought more women in tech would have been speaking up by now. There must be a lot of pent-up energy for those who were dealt with inappropriately. As Hollywood is unloading I really expected Tech, as well as food service, to have had a lot more women speak up about what they endured.

Oh I think you're right, Steve....it's coming yet. More and more will come out.

Well we know a certain infamous fellow who usually was known by his 3 initials (and I swear was the reason behind Ed putting the disclaimer we see on these posts) but I'm sure it's not him.
I think what happens is these uber-geeks rose to the top of the mountain and feel that their ego and $$ can get them whatever they want. They never learned apparently that a woman is sacred and not a prize/pet. Maybe they were undersexed in their younger geekier days and are trying to make up for lost time.
Accountability...eventually, you pay the piper. Do the crime; do the time.
Especially in tech. There seems to have been a particularly nasty 'bro' culture developing in startups over the last decade. And small-time developer turned superstar Notch (of Minecraft fame) appears to be a complete dickhead as well.
