I have downloaded the source for GoFish5 but cannot rebuild the project or app. I am getting messages like "The memo file gofish_results.sct is missing or is invalid". Any ideas?

Hi Paul,
Just guessing here: Is that project stored without binary files? The FoxBin2Prg might need to be run to convert the text files back to binaries.

I checked the repo on Github and it looks like the VFP binaries are part of it. The simplest explanation to me is the SCT got corrupted when you cloned the repo. Next simplest is it's hosed in the repo itself. I think Matt lurks here so maybe he can offer some other insights.
The repo contains the app so you don't really need to build it unless you're trying to enhance in some way?

Matt does lurk here...
I will pull the source code from the repo myself and see if I get this same error. If I do, I will push new binaries to the repo to make sure anyone who pulls to code can compile it.

I just downloaded the source code files from the git repo as a zip file. Then I expanded it to a local folder. I did a recompile all, and I got no errors. Then I built an APP from it, and ran the APP in FoxPro with no errors or problems at all.
While I did not clone the repo to get the files (downloaded zip instead), I'm certain that the files GitHub sent me in the zip are the same files it would send someone who clones the repo.
So, unless someone else reports an issue with the source files in the repo, my determination is that there are no problems.

Further investigation and testing revealed that everything works as expected if I run VFP as Administrator.

By default you dont need to compile just use the gofish5.app. In fact when you recompile you can compile wrongly, netter dont do it . Stay healthy Koen

Thank you Tracy and Richard (and Matt) for your replies. It turns out that there is BuildGoFish.PRG which, when run, creates GoFish5.APP
ProFox to the rescue once again!

Maybe you've got a oversensible Virusscanner? SCT once was a threat. Try to exclude all VFP filetypes
