Before Unity 8 Ubuntu/Kubuntu was sending search history to Amazon to target ads at you.
Ubuntu was only sending search history and it was easily opted out. Next version won't default to sending Amazon search history even.
Microsoft seems to be sending a lot more information on many more items, to a complex network of obfuscated domain names. Not good.

Is M$ using the stats for marketing? Probably so. Do I use the M$ tool for images? Rarely ever. Is this an OS thing? Probably not and more an app thing but let's not go there because we don't know so we will blame the OS all the time.
