In my accounting system, clients can email their clients an invoice or copy of an invoice. It places the message and pdf into Outlook. Outlook then takes care of it, and you can all such emails in the Sent folder This has worked for years!
I now have a client who has shown me her Sent folder and I can see dozens of entries where it has sent the email, but no attachment.
Can anyone suggest how this can happen?
My accounting system also has a "sent" emails dbf and it shows these emails were placed in to Outlook and the fact there was an attachment (or not)
Some anti virus program could be removing the attachment.

Hi Tracey (I always check your posts immediately)
.....but would it do so randomly?

Is it some but not all on this specific client? I have had a customer send a group of emails with PDF attachments, none made it to the destination. I found the antivirus program logged it being removed from outgoing email. It was simple a report saved as a PDF, though an out of date PDF format.

When I look at this client's Sent folder in Outlook, I can see (about) 20 emails were sent WITH attachments, followed by (approx) 10 that DIDN'T.

Reads just like the spam I get frequently of an invoice is attached and I should open it up.
The recipient's system is probably doing this. Sounds like you need a customer portal where they can log in and pick up the invoice and you sent a notice to them that it is now available there instead of attached.
Sucks that you have to change to overcome bad people taking advantage of the situation you were using for only good purposes.
