While I know that most of you aren't Pythonistas, you might still get a kick from this. The story of how one man created a programming language over Christmas vacation, and changed the world of tech.
It covers much of the growth of the language, and how it came to dominate one field after another. It was also fun for me, as I've gotten to hang out with many of the people in that video over the years.

One fun fact: Paul McNett and I attended our first PyCons in 2004, and didn't know anyone else. At lunch we sat at a table, and within a minute two people joined us. One was a guy who had given a talk that morning, and the other was none other than Guido van Rossum! For you Fox-only people, it would be like going to Devcon and having Dr. Dave join you for lunch!

Yo Ed - considering my dabbling in Python - and my Son doing a LOT more than me with it - I look forward to this Video!
And - although Dave did NOT sit at a Table with me - I did PERSONALLY see him Introduce FoxPro for DOS to the World - to a Standing Ovation when he did Modi Comm *.prg - and opened up 100 programs in mini-DOS like Windows!!!

I have a video from that FoxPro/DOS demo in Toledo. Dr.Dave showing all the new features with mouse, windows and speed. Unfortunately, it's only about 20 minutes from the beginning of the show, but stil worth watching: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2E9LdtJter8

Will rack that up to watch for sure. I'd love to do more Python, I just don't have a work-related use case and any hobby programming I do is Commodore 64 of all things, currently.
OMG Alan - I am VERY Surprised by your comment - as my IT Guy at work - he was going nuts recently over the multiple C64 units on sale. It's such a Fun Throwback Tech for Sure!

What I'm currently playing with is Oscar64, which is an optimising C compiler targeting the 64 and various similar systems.

Some amazing tools out there for these systems nowadays.
