Ladies and Gentlemen, Over the weekend I sadly heard about the sad passing of John Koziol with cancer last Thursday after a four year battle with Cancer.
Although I never met him I had lots of dealings with him in the initial VFP7 days whilst he was still at Microsoft working on the soon to be VFP9 as VFP technical lead and he was always most helpful and knowledgeable giving time up to look at some development issues that arose at that time.
Since then I had kept in touch albeit informally and my thoughts go out to the family I know I pass on the kind thoughts of all VFPer’s to those he has left behind.
A sad loss indeed.

I didn't know John very well. I got to know him over a few days at the conference I was hosting called Fox Forward. John contacted me ahead of the conference and said that he couldn't afford the conference but asked if he could come up and just hang out in the hallway, not go to any of the sessions, but that he just wanted to talk Fox in the "hallway discussions".
It was a pleasure getting to know him a little bit during those days, and following his posts on Twitter in the years since that time.
Today is the day to pause long enough to be thankful for what you have, and tell the people that you love that you appreciate them. I appreciate the Fox community very much. I learn a lot from all of you, even when I'm mostly a lurker.

John and I have been online acquaintances for decades now. I remember finding Pink Floyd shows and getting him the download specs back in the day. He had a great spirit through the hell his life has been put to over the past 7-10 years.

Sad news. John had a good run, and was incredibly upbeat and determined during his treatment. Of course he had some bad days and bad reactions, but he was really pleased he outlived his doctor's expectations.
I knew John from conferences, and worked with him for a week, He was the Fox Team liason when Whil and I went to Redmond as lead authors of the FoxPro-Distributed certification exam.
He will be missed.
