Hi gang I seem to be having an annoying failure in VFP9 on windows 10. After running the program in dev I call the taskpane. The taskpane is closed at the start of the prog and called on close. But, it stays blank and what's worse it locks up VFP. Anyone else having this. Never happened in Windows 7 or 8 so this is new and seems to be just the taskpane in environment manager. As far as I know. Al

Hi Ted and thanks for the link I think the XML reference only refers to the links to web services and community. I have those working ok. The issue I have is on the projects page. That sometimes locks up and I have to force close VFP. Al

Have you installed the SOAP toolkit? Soapsdk.msi, I think?

I know Task Pane requires it and whenever I run VFP on a newer Windows system I need to explicitly install it because I use Task Pane every day. Other than that, I don't have a W10 system to mess with at my office. However, I am running W10 in a Parallels VM at home so I'll try it out there.

I may be because of the app which is substantial. I hide the task pane at program start, mainly as I test in dev and don't want it about. Then at the end I show it again. Not always but sometimes that is what causes the problem. The task pane remains blank on the environment page and VFP locks up. It might also be that I have debug open too. Al

The environment manager is what I primarily use although I do find the Data Explorer useful at times.

I've also configured it to never check for updates in any of the modules. I suppose it's possible it's trying to call somewhere that doesn't exist anymore if you haven't turned off the update check.

Seems it was set to check each time. Though it would do that check on start up. I have turned that off so will be interesting to see if that solves it Thanks Al

Al, I think you will find that when it updates it will fail I find it fails 9/10 times and I have to load a fresh version of VFP when it has hung (you don't het it to be non responsive, it simply doesn't load up full screen). Having loaded the fresh copy you then have to taskbar remove the first instance.
It is strange and I had the same thing on Win 8 and 8.1 but not as consistently.
Solution I have found is to manually load taskpane as required which never seems to fail.
Dave

It updates all the newsfeeds onto the front of the taskpane.
If you open te taskpane and select Options (Top left) there are lots of options and under Community you can see "Check for New Internet Content".
Not that it changes too often with regards to VFP stuff!

OK that makes sense, but grrr it is not even called Autoupdate, nor is this word anywhere, to my knowledge mentioned in the taskpace. And yes this option you may as well forget since VFP is not anymore supported by Microsoft you cannot expect an update.Better check Universal Trade, Foxite or TekTips and VFPX for updates.
