So I uninstalled and installed 5.0.0
Continued to get errors:
- Error saving the document xxx.doc: Write Error. The file could not be written.

If you think that your issues are related to your local installation you might want to try the portable version:
https://portableapps.com/apps/office/libreoffice_portable
You don't necessarily have to put it on a usb stick, any folder will do. Having a usb copy around can be very handy at times, though.

My PC boots WIN 10 ver 1809 from C: a SSD drive.
I mount all data and programs on F: a HHD
Could this setup of SSD and HHD be the issue?

I installed LO to F:
A few files opened READ ONLY.
Error about not able to lock files
Then, LO would not open at all
