Hey there folks,
I know - I haven't posted in quite some time. And, I see the forum has been RATHER Quiet lately!
I was going thru some stuff of mine, and I stumbled upon something - which I figured folks here might find interesting. I suspect it will REALLY Only be of value to those who are really HUGE Fans of FoxPro.
So - what did I find? Great Question!
It was the Binder of printed material from the 1989 Fox Dev Conf - which was the Unveiling of FoxPro for DOS. I did indeed attend that conference in Toledo, Ohio!
Here is a link where I have uploaded a set of pics, including front cover of the Binder, an Intro letter from Dr. Fulton, a Flyer from Tom Rettig (yup, I got to meet him in person) - and, lastly - a sample page showing some FoxPro for DOS UI examples: https://imgur.com/a/ejfZjjS
I bet there has to be someone who might truly Covet this conference Binder more than me. Maybe I should post about it on the web - even put it up for sale on EBay (or even auction it off). But, I really don't know...
Anyway - I wanted to share it here 1st!
Regards, Kurt

I noticed that the page with the screenshots was of Ventura Publisher. My wife was the editor of the Ventura Publisher User Group Magazine (VPUG) in San Jose at that time, and that pixelated display (Ventura) was considered pretty advanced at the time, due to it being a graphic interface.
Wow, that all was...what...a couple years ago?
Thanks for the memories!

You're quite welcome Mike. So - does that mean you actually live in the San Jose area??
My son is currently still up there - at Stanford - still doing some AI research. He finished up his BS in Physics last year June - then, his MS in CS/AI this past June. Lucky for us, for his MS - he got a full ride via a Scholarship.
And, yeah, sure - that Conf. was just a couple years ago...

No, we moved to Oklahoma in '91. The house we were thrilled to sell for $210,000 in 1991 is now listed for $1.5 million, so I guess we pulled up stakes a bit early!
We were there during the Loma Prieta earthquake that caused a lot of fires in the Berkley Hills above Stanford (along with a lot of other damage.)
Miss the weather and proximity to the ocean. And, we go back to visit my sis-in-law who lives in Daly City (south of San Francisco) every few years. We were out there in Aug '23. Saw a few of the driverless taxis roaming around the San Francisco streets. Very odd!

Wow Mike - you TRULY Did dump that house TOO Early! Yeah - values of all the houses & properties - close to Silicon Valley - surely shot up over the years. But, you could not have predicted it!
AS for Daly City - I actually taught some after school programs there back in like Feb/March 2019 - before I split down to San Diego in April of that year.
Will admit - I have never seen the Driverless taxis before. Strange sight indeed!

Sweet! I was transported back to my first job where I had to learn FoxPlus and Ventura. Started my love affair for the Fox and did a church bulletin for many years in Ventura. What a flashback!

Very cool piece of ancient history.
Hello Kurt, Well, that's a great find! As some of us here know, I have a fairly extensive collection of FoxPro books, FoxPro-Advisor, FoxTalk and DevCon folders. (see here some pics: https://1drv.ms/f/s!AujNq3xu6Q4_nYk9hUUQnn1tLOJPfw?e=yTqANl) But these only start in 1992, so the binders from 1989-1991 would be a valuable addition to my collection! Maybe there would be a possibility to send them to Germany and add it to that shelfs?? If you would agree, could you try to find out the cheapest way for shipment?
By the way, I also have some DevCon videos, starting with Dr.Dave introducing FoxPro 1.0 for the first time. I guess I'll have to upload them to YouTube... Or to that www.FoxProHistory.org site, but not sure about their video hosting possibilities.

That's a great set of bookshelves, w00dy! I have something similar myself.
Sadly, in the interest of saving space, I had to let go all the 2.x books a while ago, except the five I helped write ;)
A word of caution to those browsing www.FoxProHistory.org -- there's a NSFW link right in the middle you likely don't want to click on.

There are even two: that "fileboom..." and the "rule 34". Which makes me wonder if there are even more subpages hacked. Doesn't give a safe feeling now :=( I contacted them at that info@, but the mail was rejected.
