FPW26 pops this error for every loading of programs: Cannot Write to Read Only File
I just got a new PC.
It runs WIN10 64 bit.
I loaded VMWare Player Station 12 running WIN XP SP3
I went to the Host folder [FPW26] and unticked [Read Only] and included subfolders.
Each time I check the properties on the Host, [Read Only] contains a black square.
What is my next step?

Charles,
I would strongly recommend you check out VDOS at vdos.info.
I've been using it to run my Foxpro DOS program on Win 10 Pro systems for a few weeks now and it's impressive. (Free, but donation suggested.)
I don't know that it will removed your Read Only issue, and yes I have seen that myself but I don't know what is causing it.
VDOS is exceptionally easy to set up, too.

Thank you Mike.
I want to add, that selecting [Ignore] enables the app to run.
But this kludge is a pain. I have to to [ignore] about 100 times.

Charles,
I've had mixed results with this, but it only takes a minute to try
open a command window
Attrib -r c:\mydir*.*
Bill
I want to add, that selecting [Ignore] enables the app to run.
But this kludge is a pain. I have to to [ignore] about 100 times.
Dear BIll:
Thank you for the [attrib] tip.
Running [attrib] just gave me [access denied] for [fpw26] and all sub directories.

Charles,
Running [attrib] just gave me [access denied] for [fpw26] and all sub directories.

Dear Bill:
Thank you!
The URL gave me the fix:
Do you have access to all of the files you are running attrib on? You can check this with these steps:
1. Right-click the folder you’re working with then select “*Properties*“. 2. Select “*Security*“. 3. Select the “*Edit…*” button to edit permissions. 4. Select “*Add…*“. 5. Type your username to allow just your account access, or type “ *EVERYONE*” to allow access to anybody. Select “*OK*” when you’re ready. 6. With the account you just added higlighted in the “*Group or user names*” area, select the “*Allow*” check for “*Full control*“. Select “ *OK*” when you’re ready.

That's good news, Charles. We all hate having to resort to kludges
