Hey folks,
A bit off the regular topic. And, I suspect may not get much of Hit to my Request - since folks here are generally hard-core programmers! Butt...
I'm going to give it a shot.
I need assistance with my Sister's clothing website. I'm NOT a website coder - and the JS code on the site might as well be Chinese writing to my eyes.
As such, I'm hoping to potentially find a JavaScript type Humanoid here. And, if you also have experience with DatoCMS & Shopify - that would be cool too!
FYI - here's her site: https://clothfoundry.com/
Thanks in advance, -Kurt

I've done a lot with wordpress type sites and php / mysql since my foxpro days. this is NOT a wordpress type site, and may be all shopify code although I can find no references via "view page source" or even F12 where you can see the code.
I would suggest to start here.
You will find references to javascript and other code samples that will help you. If you run into problems, you can send me code samples at vbiersch@gmail.com and I'll try and help you out.

Lately I've been impressed with perplexity.ai for investigating code in languages I'm not familiar with. For example, I asked it "How do I create a dropdown list in javascript", and I got this response:
https://www.perplexity.ai/search/how-do-i-create-a-dropdown-lis-h10.NikSRICr...
What I like about this particular LLM is that it searches the web, and takes the responses to further refine an answer. It gives easy-to-copy code samples, along with links to the websites where it got that information.
And like all LLMs, it can be wrong. I've run code it suggested, only to get an error. So I paste the error back into perplexity, and it corrects itself. Pretty impressive! I've had to write some Powershell and Windows batch files lately, and rather than google all that, I just asked perplexity how to solve the given problem in the given language. Saved me hours!

It's written in something that *compiles* into JS. Nobody writes code like that! I suspect a node.js framework like React or Angular, but this is my thing.
You are going to need whatever the source material was.
Recently I used ASP.NET Core Blazor and it's actually really nice.

Web is not my thing but MS did a nice job here.
Thank you Virgil & Ed & Paul for all your replies - I really, REALLY appreciate it!!!
I've even been on DM's with Ed recently - and thank you again Ed for that.
To answer some of the questions and comments from you folks. Yeah, I believe it's a React.JS type stuff. And - no, Virgil - it's not Shopify coding.
So - the products/items and thus the inventory, as well as the sales of products are handled thru Shopify.
But, rest of the website content is actually on this DatoCMS system. Then, I believe the website is actually driven by this Vercel/GitHub, and that's where the JS code is.
Again, I appreciated all the replies. But, I guess I wasn't clear. The deal is, I need someone who is already well versed in Web work, and JS, preferably someone who is already familiar with working on something like Vercel/GitHub. And if they are already familiar with DatoCMS & Shopify - that would be the ultimate. And, this is Super urgent - we need someone ASAP - who can Bang out the changes - and so we can have a properly updated website in the next couple of weeks.
As such, there's no way I can do it. My part would simply be to project manage the website update and coordinate on that. As is, I'm already working on assisting my sister with other parts of the business.
Again - sorry I didn't make this all clear before.

Liquid? On Shopify?
Again - Not using any coding On Shopify. Actual coding is on Github.
So no Liquid used.
It's not an actual Shopify website. That's only for inventory & sales.

Kurt, I inherited a site like that from a customer and have converted it over to Wordpress with Divi as an add-in with Woocommerce handling the saless. It took 2 days work to complete the new site and the customer now has full control over the design which is simple. Divi really is an excellent product and gives you wysiwyg designing with drag and drop that most customers can use with minimal input. It also has an addon AI module that does all the design, formatting and text formulation automatically using a great AI add on.

Wow Dave - that solution sounds like a DREAM!
But, my sister is Adamant about sticking with the current platform of tools and insists we find someone that can make the proper updates to the stuff that's already in place.
A buddy of mine back in NJ who has done website work for YEARS - he suggested that we use Shopify to build the whole site, since we already have all the product items on Shopify. But, my sisters says their Templates are Crap and refuses to go that route.
And, I guess - since it's her website - she can do whatever she wants. And, now she wants to post a job listing on LinkedIn to find someone.
Oh well, so be it...

Again, it's not a Shopify website.
And it's special controls...
Can't give more details now...

Most of these systems use a theme You very seldom do any code changes Most stuff, you find the text you want to change or the picture,
whatever
and then in the theme, using the tools supplied, you simply change the
text
size, center it or whatever you want to do
I would suggest watching a few Shopify videos on YouTube to understand
what
others are doing

Yeah, I do know it's used for version control.
I believe her site is based upon a Branch from this Vercel Co. & it's
on
Github.
Again -- I'm not a Web guy...

Liquid? On Shopify?
Again - Not using any coding On Shopify. Actual coding is on
Github.
So no Liquid used.
It's not an actual Shopify website. That's only for inventory & sales.
Hope that makes sense.
