I agree - breaking things down into smaller chunks is a Pain.
I did start using Projects last week.
Me - I've been using "SccTextX.prg" to flatten Screen designs & Report forms - to pass to Claude. It was interesting to find out it did NOT Know what certain codes meant in the Flattened file - like codes for Bold, Underline & Italics!
I WISH we could have the $100 monthly plan - but, that won't happen here...

Getting large amounts of data in and out from the LLM and breaking things down into smaller chunks is what I continue to struggle with most. I haven't used Projects, but I do use a combination of Claude.ai on the web and Claude code. Claude code has the advantage of knowing about your entire project. Sometimes that can also be a hindrance, though! Here's what I've done while trying to document and get a migration plan for the Visual FoxPro application I've been working with. First, I ran bin2prg on all the binary files, so I have text versions that Claude can understand. Next, I removed everything except the text representations, keeping the folder structure intact. Then I asked Claude to generate a summary of the project and save it in a Markdown file.
I've also been going through each file and asking Claude to provide a detailed analysis of each one, saving it in markdown format with the same name as the text representation but with a .md extension. I've been experimenting with having Claude generate different design documents and save those into Markdown as well. This provides summaries that are easier to understand than the XML format in the original files, and it yields files that I can return to Claude for future prompts. I am still very much a novice with all the AI stuff, but I do feel like I am slowly getting somewhere. I should also note that I have upgraded to the $100 per month Max plan, and it still switches away from the version 4 model relatively quickly each day. Happy 4th!

I'm curious to know if others here are using Claude AI, and if so, are you using Projects? I know some folks DID already mention that they have been using Claude. In my case - been using it for like about 2.5 months. But, all during that time - I never tried this Projects stuff. Didn't really know for sure what it was all about. Figured maybe it could Also help me, make things more efficient - when dealing with FoxPro code & doing conversions.

I have been working with you a lot doing FoxPro coding work, and converting code from VFP to C#/.Net & even implementing 3rd party code for reports like QuestPDF. But, in all instances, I have been working with you in normal chat sessions. I have seen this Project option in your UI - but, I have not used it before. Can you please inform me a bit about projects, and why Projects may be helpful for me!

Unlike regular chat sessions that start fresh each time..." - and you also wrote - "Pick up exactly where you left off in previous sessions...". I want to understand things further. For instance, based upon what you wrote - Project still has multiple chat sessions - is that correct? And, based upon my Pro payment level - I will still have limitations in regards to the length of a conversation in a particular chat session, or hitting a limit if I upload program files that are too big. Am I right?
And, my final follow-up: Yes, this does indeed clarify. But, I did have a further question. At one point I heard that it was at times better to start a new session - as opposed to keep going in the same session. I understand this was the case because, supposedly, each prompt I input within a session, you - Claude - actually go all the way back thru the whole session, and the files I uploaded - in order to answer a prompt - and therefore uses up my daily tokens limit faster. Is that correct?
Anyway - that's it for now. Other than - HEY - I wish all you folks Stateside - have a Happy 4th!
