With all this talk about platforms and languages, I'll throw this out there.
I would like to design something that will work on a mobile phone. Apple and.or Android
1 Your system device name.
Can be a serial number or some other unique 10 character value
2 Start Date/time
3 A 10 digit number
4 Stop date/time
Email this data to an email address
After emailing, a button to erase the data file.
In VFP terms, a table with columns like
SYSNAME C(10)
STARTTIME (Date/time)
JOBNUM N(10)
STOPTIME ( Date/time)
Is this a Xojo job I should attempt or is someone able to do this for me (PAID of course)
Just throwing this point in regarding XOJO...they don't do Android, yet. Maybe Android never, but I have no way of knowing.

Why not write it as a web-based app? That would eliminate the email component altogether, and allow access from Android, Apple, Zune, Palm Pilot, PC, Macintosh, tablets, iPad, kiosks and pretty much anything else with a web connection.
Writing custom apps for each proprietary hardware platform is great if you need to take advantage of native functionality of the machine (GPS, accelerometer, camera, telephony, etc.) but for generic CRUD apps, it can be advantageous to just write to a common platform. Kinda like "Write Once, Run Anywhere..."
Ted, your comments noted However, with this App, the client does not always have internet application.

... and that's a really good reason to write it as a native app!
Sytze, Take a look at Basic4Android. Easy to learn and streets ahead of "basic" as you know it with a similar structure to VFP with which it has many similarities. Available also on iOS (B4i), Desktop(B4j) Arduino (B4R) and supports Android, Iod, windows, Mac, Linux, Arduino, Raspberry Pi and much more.
Free to try with a few restrictions (Cannot use class libraries being one of them) but only $59 to fully license on a perpetual basis for the copy you register and $119 for the enterprise version which covers you for 2 years updates. The B4i (iOS) version can be bought with a bundle for $189 but requires a local Mac computer to run whereas the Hosted Builder bundle allows you to use a cloud to do the builds.
Highly recommended, simple to learn, support is excellent and it just works.

+1 for B4A. I had a working app running on my tablet Within 2 hours, and that includes download, setup, and supporting libraries installation. Dead easy to use, excellent documentation, the developer himself is extremely responsive to questions, and it has a robust and friendly support forum. I can not recommend this highly enough. Some of the best money I've ever spent.
Dave, once again, THANK you. Based on your recommendation, I have gone ahead and purchased the Enterprise version. I can see some long nights ahead.......

Sytze, No problem. Any queries on getting started then drop me an email. You really will find it very quick to develop in. I had a stock system up and running in 2 days and that included FTP file transfer to/from our server all running wirelessly.
Once you get used to the event loop which is a little quirky then data entry is a breeze and using the bundled SQLite makes data access simple. There are loads of add on class libraries you can use detailed on the support page and most of them come with demo or source code.
Best of luck!
Dave
