Exactly the reason for "How to Ask a Good Question." Much as I enjoy annoying fellow forum members, stating the basics, especially when you know "that couldn't be the problem" and justifying the steps you took along the way troubleshooting ("No, wait, did I try to do it this way and that way?") very often solve the problem. I delete a number of questions ready to send to the list for exactly this reason.
