I hear you Tracy, never a dull moment having to do things over on a whim.
The Yahoo thing was a long time ago. I don't use them anymore, so it's just water under the bridge to me. <shrug>

Fred, I thought it was you couldn't POP or sync with IMAP to the account unless it was a paid account.
Gmail is locking down a lot. You will need an OAuth2 token to use Gmail with SMTP before the end of the year. https://9to5google.com/2019/12/17/g-suite-less-secure-apps/
Or you need to turn on 2FA, and get a device password to use.
Things are getting difficult.
Office365 will not have the ability to use an OAuth2 token for SMTP access. They will require the use of an API if they start to block SMTP access like Google is.

I don't think Yahoo allows you to send emails via CDO unless you have a paid account. At least that was they told me several years ago. CDO works with Gmail and Office 365 accounts.

A friend is using a program I wrote to send emails requesting a piece of information using SMTP with CDO. The program is only used twice a year. Last time it was used it was set up for his Sky account which worked fine however this time it has stopped working so he set up a Yahoo account
which
is not working either. Can anyone confirm the correct settings for Yahoo and SMTP please? We have tried outgoing mail server = smtp.mail.yahoo.com, port = 465 and 587, use ssl = .T., authenticate = .T. and username = 'name'@yahoo.com.
Thanks
