Stephen,
I did work for Stanford University in the mid 90's, (scpd.stanford.edu, then known as SITN) putting together a FoxPro Mac enrollment system. A fair amount of the Silicon Valley employers enrolled their employees for the on line courses.
It was somewhat common knowledge there that a well known Silicon Valley executive then had several payouts to the women who worked for this company. This person is still there today. Before you ask, I won't tell because I don't know myself and this person is known to be litigious...but if it comes out that's a different story.
Well we know a certain infamous fellow who usually was known by his 3 initials (and I swear was the reason behind Ed putting the disclaimer we see on these posts) but I'm sure it's not him.
I think what happens is these uber-geeks rose to the top of the mountain and feel that their ego and $$ can get them whatever they want. They never learned apparently that a woman is sacred and not a prize/pet. Maybe they were undersexed in their younger geekier days and are trying to make up for lost time.
Accountability...eventually, you pay the piper. Do the crime; do the time.
