Hey there Matt!
Like you - I am for the most part a "... one trick pony ". That being said - at my current gig I have gotten Heavily into using M$ SQL & writing of Stored Proc's - or SProcs as the Holy Stephen would put it! My place is also pushing me to learn VB or C# - to begin seriously getting my hands wet in the .Net world. Although - problem is - at work - I'm Swamped all the time - whether working on System Updates or just Supporting current systems - really leaving me NO Time to try and learn New Shit. My manager has even suggested me learning the stuff - by watching videos - while on my long ass Train commutes. But, my motto - if I'm working Database programming by day - then by night and on my personal time - I purely dedicate it to my 3D Printing Endeavors - which, once I successfully launch and reach a funding goal on a KickStarter campaign based upon one of my designs - I eventually plan to completely quit programming - and concentrate on the stuff that I find Truly FUN!
As for Delphi - I'm almost jealous - as I'd like to do that - since its so similar to Pascal - which was one of my First Loves! (Well - at least the non-female type!).
Either way - Good luck with your new programming endeavors - and hopefully you can eventually get your pay grade back up to where it used to be. After I did the Mr. Mom stuff for a while - then got back into programming - my Salary also took a nose-dive. But, now - I'm back up there and making more than I ever have before. Although - it was partially luck...

Any more, I am a lurker and have been so for the last 7+ years.... my last line of anything relating to writing Fox code would have been 2009 at the latest...
I thought I would pop in and say that after more or less 11 years of IT work, I am finally returning to software development as a profession rather than bloody IT... oh man, how I hate IT....
But I'm sorry to say that I will not be in the Fox world which is a disappointment... I had hoped to come across something, ANYTHING, that would let me fill out my career with my beloved Fox but at least as far as I can see, it just ain't gonna happen. That would have been nice... start more or less with Fox, end with Fox... Sigh....
After a 9 month hiatus from employment I'll be starting on the 1st with a local company that does Cost Accounting software for municipalities... I actually got my start writing SBT accounting software so at least I know a thing or two about accounting... back in the software dev biz is a big plus, but the downside to this gig, at least for now, is it doesn't pay crap. I made this much 15 years ago without breaking a sweat, but that was then, this is now... let's just say I will continue to keep my eyes and ears open...
I will be doing work in Delphi, think Pascal. I took a class in Pascal 33+ years ago in college and remember absolutely nothing about it other than semi colons at the end of lines... my new employer doesn't seem to care and thought with my background I'd be a good fit...
I have a couple points I would like to make... do yourself a favor and learn something besides the Fox... Don't be like me... I am pretty much a one trick pony (I fake it well in Access but dang, it's Access)... Also it's been great being here since Day One from the Big Breakoff from whatever-the-hell-it-was-called 17 or 18 years ago, but other than popping in, I'll be saying goodbye to the Fox.
Those of you that remain in the Fox world have come a long way, and the Fox has done all of us well, hasn't it? What a wonderful product, only to see MS turn it off and wither away... damn you MS...
I'll still be here, but instead of reading all the messages I'll be routing them to a folder for time to time viewing... if you need to get in touch, search the archives and go with the gmail address... I'll try and help if I can... other than the automation series (a pretty big hit) I did over at VFUG (with Ted holding my hand in places) I haven't contributed much to the overall effort, and frankly I've forgotten most of that stuff anyway... if you bang on automation long enough you'll figure it out - that's pretty much what I did...
Be well, be safe. Best of luck to you all and LONG LIVE THE FOX!!
Cheers!
