The only memory problems I see these days are to do with allocating
gigabytes and
gigabytes of base memory to VM's... what a change from using 4Kb and 8Kb
machines
which had to use overlays held on tape and/or the latest 2.5Mb (yes Mega
Byte) fixed
Exchangeable drives (FEDS).
This all puts me in mind of the days when hard drives were a high-end option, operating systems weren't standardized, and software had to fit on the most restrictive machine's floppy. (The TI-99 for what I was doing.) There was less than 100K to work with. Megabytes? Incomprehensible luxury.
