Hi Graham,
I would recommend just one tool: www.Lianja.com It's a spinoff from Recital (which was a Foxpro 2.x clone for Big Iron) and is stil in use at those insurance and banking boxes. That's where those guys learnt how to build languages, compilers and database servers.
It is built on VFP's object model, including container hierarchies (something a lot of other tools don't know) and a almost full language support of VFP9. Plus a lot of language enhancements for the newer web world: for example, a BROWSE with CSS styling for absolutely stunning possibilities for rows, columns and cell formatting etc.
It compiles for WIN, MAC, Linux, IOS, Android. As Standalone EXE, APP or AppServer Client (SAAS). Or as WebApp, even with support for "Active FoxPro Pages", named not asp or afp but rsp (from "Recital Server Pages")
It has it's own fullflegded SQLServer,, but can also use DBFs or any other OLEDB or ODBC source, also with 64Bit Support
Now the fun part: You can use different languages: VFP/Lianja, Phyton, PHP, Jscript, TypeScript, Babel/ES6. Thus even if you start an App with VFP coding, Lianja can compile different languages to one EXE, enabling you to add new programmers with maybe Phyton or PHP knowledge seamlessly into your team.
For starters, read their vision here https://www.lianja.com/resources/the-lianja-vision
The team behind Lianja is very motivated and you have a very fast turnaround for enhancement requests. Reminds me of the good ol days and the MS/FoxPro team responsiveness.
Not sure if you stil can download a free testversion, called "Community Edition" for testing and inhouse nonprofit apps. The "Lianja App builder" package includes all stuff, for real developers there is a annual fee, but with unlimited Distribution rights. (just like VFP)
wOOdy

Hi
Dumb question time.
Vis Fox has been a huge part of my career since the late 90s, I still support my VFP apps but I now find my new developments are either PHP or VS.NET.
Has there been any thought to creating lists for other languages like Web, mobile, VB.Net and C#? Is there a requirement for this within the group?
Just wondering about our brave new world!
Regards
Graham
