VFP6 and VFP9 Legacy Application Support Help

I had posted this a few months ago and had received several responses, to those people I apologize for not getting back to you I support an application called Quick Aviation. It is a VFP application based on SBT Accounting and designed for by Aerospace MRO shops. Essentially our customer sends a part for a jet engine and we will repair, overhaul or test the part based upon Similar to ERP with the exception that we never know what parts will be needed. Quick Aviation was independently written and we bought the code. As you can imagine there have been all sorts of enhancements and custom reports written. Originally written for FoxPro for Windows it runs under VFP6, with a great deal of additional reports and "add-ons" being written in VFP9. We have approximately 150 users on the system. Being ran on a VMWare virtual server. We ship thousands of parts per month and typically have over 2,000 orders in process. Since I am the only person supporting the application and we are part of a very large aerospace concern, management is concerned with it's "stability" and ability to grow with the business. (We all know there should be no issues with that!) Also they want to insure that the application is fully is properly supported. Am not sure how this would be setup, but I would envision having a person available to provide support, user requested enhancements and report writing. Perhaps some sort of monthly fee with additional fees for completed projects. Not sure how long this would last, management is eyeing one of the big ERP packages. Our users like Quick Aviation . Would appreciate any additional feedback, plus am interested as to how other organizations might handle this situation.... Is there a way to uto open the last project?

I have standard directory structure that I use. I can run a seetup program when I'm in the root directory of a project. Is there way to know what the last project project was, and therefore change to it automatically and then run my setup routine. Just to be clear: There are TWO versions of VFPA ("A" like the Hex notation of "10") a) the patched version of your existing VFP9 installation. This implies that it's stil a 23Bit version. This is the version you most probably want to use immediately. Download the 32Bit on the bottom of: http://baiyujia.com/vfpadvanced/f_vfpa_about.asp It needs a current VFP9 installation with SP2, and then creates a new directory with a patched new VFP9.exe and also copies all of the other files of your VFP9 source directory. Thus, after installation you just rename the old VFP9 directory to something different, and rename the new directory to the original name, and all your Registrykeys and Links will work without interruption. b) a new VFP10 err... VFPA compiler for 64 bit executables. Looking for a "side by side" editor for PRGs

Hi all (Happy New Year) I have two PRGs with about 60 differences between them. I am looking for an editor that will allow me to view and edit them side by side. I have CodeCompare but I can't seem to get on with it and I don't have time to get to grips with it. Basically I want a one way copy-and-paste facility (copy from one file, paste into the other). If it highlighted differences that would be a bonus but not absolutely essential. All suggestions most welcome. Today in another trivia board I'm on, there was this math question: "Identify a multi-digit number such that when each digit is raised to the power of itself, and the result of each of those is added together you get the original number." eg: 274 = (2 ^ 2) + (7 ^ 7) + (4 ^ 4) We were given the hint that it's 4 digits, which was helpful. I quickly wrote this FoxPro script to figure it out for me: [image: image.png] But then I thought, I should really figure out how to do this in Python if I'm ever really going to learn. I've run through a few online tutorials, but I still had to google how to do for loops, how to convert integers into strings and then parse that string, how exponentiation worked, even how if statements work. Just saw a mention of Blazor today in a Code Magazine email ad. Never heard of it. https://dotnet.microsoft.com/apps/aspnet/web-apps/blazor Anybody heard of it and can comment their thoughts on it? Is it better than using JavaScript? That's the first impression I get that they're saying from their marketing.
