[NF] Right-click Open with options

Hi In my setup I have PSPad.EXE and PSPad (Admin).EXE. The latter is simply a copy of the former but with "Run as administrator" set in its properties. If I right-click on, for example, Config.FPW, I already have PSPad as an option but I can also "choose another program" and select PSPad (Admin).EXE and "Just once". The next time I right-click on Config.FPW there are two choices for "PSPad". One opens PSPad.EXE and the other opens PSPad (Admin).EXE which is great except for the fact that both are simply labelled "PSPad". Any ideas how I can get PSPad (Admin) to show as the second choice? Where does Windows store these "Open with" choices? Are they in a folder somewhere or in the registry? Many thanks Paul Newton

ChilkatVFP 1.1 released - Now with Events support!

Folks, When I first started the Chilkat project I was under the impression that events could not be supported in Visual Foxpro. Fortunately, it turns out that I misread the Chilkat documentation. I had found a GitHub site in late September where Chilkat placed some classes that (in theory) supported events - or as Chikat references it, event callbacks. That told me that in theory it could be done. It's done. ChilkatVFP supports all Chilkat event callbacks. It's not as straightforward as I'm presenting it. The Chilkat documentation is lacking, the event examples are missing methods and the parameters don't match in some cases - and you must match exactly or the binding doesn't work. On the Visual Foxpro side the IMPLEMENTS clause of DEFINE CLASS has some pretty serious compilation bugs. And there are some things necessary to make events work that literally I can't explain why it works that way, only that you have to do it that way. So you have event hooks for arriving emails, files uploaded/downloaded, processing Zip and Tar files, HTTP request/receive, and so on. VFP9 starts in a folder it creates instead of the HOME() folder

Hi all I am setting up a new machine running Windows 11 Pro. I have installed VFP9, together with SP2, Hotfix 3 and other bits and pieces (e.g.XML Parser). I have CONFIG.FPW in the HOME() folder. When I start VFP, I expect the current folder to be the HOME() folder but in fact it is C:\Users\pauln\Documents\!Visual FoxPro Projects\ If I add RESOURCE = OFF to CONFIG.FPW, VFP starts in the HOME() folder as expected. Without RESOURCE = OFF If FOXUSER.DBF doesn't exist in C:\Users\pauln\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Visual FoxPro 9\, it is created there VFP starts in C:\Users\pauln\Documents\!Visual FoxPro Projects\(which is created if it doesn't already exist) I don't understand why this is happening - how and why is VFP deciding to create a new folder and default to that folder when starting? Is this normal behaviour (I don't think I have ever come across it before)? VFP9 installation on a new machine

Hi all It's a long time since I had to install VFP9 and a couple of things have arisen. I installed the original RTM and applied SP2 but I have two different files, both purportedly SP2. VFP9.0sp2-KB925841-X86-Enu.exe (34.8MB) VFP9.0sp2-KB955370-X86-Enu.exe (1.9 MB) According to www.berezniker.com/ the one I need (and used) is the first one but I wondered if anybody knows anything about the other one (the KBs are no longer available even on the web archive). I then applied Hotfix 3 for SP2 - VFP90SP2-KB968409-ENU.EXE (10.8 MB) ActiveX security updates - VFP9.0sp2-KB958371-X86-Enu.exe (4.6 MB) GDIPLUS.DLL security updates - VFP9.0sp2-KB971105-X86-Enu.exe (1.9 MB) In the past I have also installed the VFPCOM utility,the OLE DB provider and MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2 and I'm wondering if I should do so again. dreaming of vfp and vscode integration

This morning I've been doing some refactoring (I use that term loosely) and listening to some guys talk in one of the rooms at Virtual Fox Fest. I'm splitting long lines and cleaning up comments, etc in vscode then switching over to VFP (Version 6 still I am ashamed to say) and compiling the prg to make sure I'm not getting any errors. I was thinking it would be convenient if I could make VFP compile the file I'm working on when I save it and then maybe have something look for ERR files to show up and send me a notification if it does. Does anyone have any experience doing something like this? I'd be willing to put some time into the tooling to do this. Seems like it is possible. I do realize I'd get a little more syntax checking with VFP6 and a lot more with VFP9, but I am more used to the text manipulation in vscode.
