[NF] Beyond Quickbooks

Jeff Johnson's old client has contacted me asking about a replacement for their QuickBooks because they've basically outgrown it. (Doesn't help that they've got 18 years of data in there and their trucking business has boomed since the pandemic, and I'm pretty sure they haven't closed out or group totally or whatever you call it for past time segments.) CABuilder Revisited

Hi I posted before about the CABuilder tool asking for the original disk then failing to find anything. I traced the code and found the last line "Do (_browser) with (lcClassList)" was causing the error and commenting this line allowed the code to complete correctly. I have no idea what dependencies this needs and why it would fail. I hope this helps someone. Parallel Fox White Paper

This question is directed more toward Rick Schummer but it would have interest to the group...and of course if anyone else could answer, that's appreciated! There's a white paper along with the download for Parallel Fox on GitHub, and from memory it's about 10 years old. I seem to remember a newer white paper for ParallelFox (though I could be confusing it with the recent DMult presentation at the last VirtualFoxFest) from one of the conferences. [NF] Help With VB.Net

I am trying to help a friend write an app in VB.Net. I need some code to fire when a number is entered into a textbox and Enter pressed, as in the Valid event in VFP, but can’t seem to find the appropriate VB event – any suggestions gratefully received. Problem trying to run a Powershell script as an Explorer shell command (Fox related)

Hi all I have been toying on and off over several years with a method of opening VFP with a MODIFY command when double-clicking a file in Explorer. For example, double-clicking on a PJX in Explorer should open VFP with the command MODIFY PROJECT <Project> NOWAIT. I am almost there, maybe. At the moment everything is in C:\Temp ConFig.FPW contains Command = C:\Temp\FoxOpen.PRG *FoxOpen.PRG is constructed on-the fly by a PowerShell script TEST.PS1 as follows: TEST.PS1 Param([string]$a) $file=Get-Item "$a" $Extension = $file.Extension.ToUpper() $Command = "" switch ($Extension) { .PJX { $Command = "Modify Project '"+ $a + "' NOWAIT" } # Other cases follow } Set-Content -Path C:\Temp\FoxOpen.PRG -Value $Command & "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual FoxPro 9\vfp9.exe" -CC:\Temp\Config.FPW I have tested this in a PowerShell console like this PS C:\Temp> C:\Temp\Test.PS1 <PJXPath> where <PJXPath> is a fully qualified path to a PJX, enclosed in single quotes I have also tested in a COMMAND window like this C:\Temp> PowerShell C:\Temp\Test.PS1 <PJXPath> again where <PJXPath> is a fully qualified path to a PJX, enclosed in single quotes So far, so good. Now for how to implement the shell command. My registry settings are as follows: Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT PJXFile (Default) REG-SZ Project (FoxPro) Shell (Default) REG_SZ (value not set) Modify project (Default) REG_SZ (value not set) Command (Default) REG_SZ "POWERSHELL C:\Temp\Test1.PS1" "%1" However, double-clicking on a PJX results in: Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. The problem is out-sourcing and down-sizing, the lowest price won, which meant lower language skills and less smart. That help desk person might be following a stupid A.I. the stupid way as well. :) "Global village" meant you need to deal with people whose mother tongue was not English, as well as different accents. Not trying to be obnoxious here but installing a driver on its own won’t change anything. 😊 Has the connection string for the application been changed to use 17? I don’t think there is an “ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server” but I could be wrong. There’s definitely a 13 and a 17. There is also “SQL Server Native Client 11.0”. Is it possible to use ODBC Manager in the environment in question to create a connection to the SQL Server the EXE uses? I am using West-Wind wwSQL class to execute Queries and Stored procedures. I don't think it is remote views. I call the method and it returns a cursor or an oData object. I hope that helps as I am not an SQL expert.
