FoxBin2Prg Form.Property = "" becomes .F.

I have just recently started to use FoxBin2Prg to store my VCX and SCX files as text versions in Git. Some of my forms have properties set to a have nothing in it. VFP displays this as "(none)". When I use FoxBin2Prg to put this particular form in to the SC2 form, the back to the SCX form this property becomes a .F. Just putting this out there for those that might use this tool. Tracy

A FoxPro Transition @ UCLA...

Hello there folks, I'm looking to get some feedback from the hive mind of this group. And, I will admit, I'm doing this kind of last minute. Too many things going on lately, and I have not had a chance to do my true due diligence! Such as thorough research via prior postings in this forum. So as some of you may already know, I had a first interview for a programmer job at UCLA. The second interview is coming up, it's supposed to be this Thursday, but I might try to postpone until Friday. Too much stuff going on in my life lately, including doing 2 different part time jobs and an extended relative who passed away recently, that's the reason I'm going down to LA for an in-person interview, since the last interview I did via Skype. It looks like UCLA really wants to move away from Foxpro, as they know it's a dead language. But, they want to move to something similar to VFP. I suspect its also because the 1 and only programmer there, who's been there for like 30 years and may be retiring soon - doesn't want to learn something Totally new. And, also wants to minimize the transition! They are asking me to propose what I think is the best option. They have mentioned several options such as Fox-in-Cloud, the Alpha software, and even Servoy. They did not bring up things like Lianja, XoJo, or X# the open source X-base language. I know that Fox-in-Cloud even offers a type of Conversion Assistant - which looks really Great! But, once its converted and running in the cloud - I'm assuming that making updates to the system actually means programming in something that is not actually FoxPro - as I think its Javascript & HTML. But, I could be wrong - and am sure Thierry will correct me. There was also some recent discussion on X# which looked like a potentially great option. But, I heard that via the last posting - the FoxPro version of the code wasn't really ready yet! They also told me that they have already been working with Alpha SW - and in discussions with them for several months. Which makes me think they are already leaning towards Alpha. A quick review of old postings in this forum did not show a lot of discussion or users of Alpha. It would really be great to hear from some Alpha users! Anyway - any and all input would be greatly appreciated. I've seen Numerous discussions about a number of these technologies here in the forum over the years. But, honestly - I never truly got involved with any of them - until NOW! Regards, Kurt

Hi All With any networked VFP application sharing a DBC the SMB performance of the server hosting the DBC is very important? Assuming your answer to the above question is Yes or Of Course, then when you have one server that seems to perform well and one that doesn't it would be useful to easily compare the setup of the two. Is anyone aware of any utilities that make the configuration and tweaking of SMB easy or at least allow you to compare to setups? Of course, if your answer to the first question isn't yes I would also be interested in your thoughts. I know there is a lot more that comes into the performance of an application other than the setup of the server, i.e the spec of the client, the os of the client, other software such as anti virus, network infrastructure etc etc. Where I am going with this... We have lots of sites where an application works well and one site where it doesn't, and without having to spend hours and hours investigating all the various settings and registry entries, I just want to start with the servers and make a comparison to see if there are any obvious differences. Thor Updates and VFPX GitHub site

I have a multi-pronged question here. I had (well have) used Thor's update process to update all the VFPx tools pointing to MSFT's former site for VFPx. Side note: It's apparently undocumented but VFPx tools can still be updated through Thor. So long as the update comes from outside MSFT's dead web site, everything works. Occasionally an update will come through, such as Doug Hennig's new Project replacement. So, things are now on GitHub. OK. How does one manage this? 1) How do we determine which is the latest version? That's a serious question as there are two places that can have the update. 2) What tools do you recommend for Github? 3) Thor would download an extension and put it in a specific directory for Thor to manage. Let's call it directory X. The Github downloader would ostensibly put it in directory Y. Is there a way to not only point to directory X for a specific GitHub VFP tool but to have it unpacked in that directory? 4) How about integrating new VFP tools on GitHub into Thor? Does one just manually make the directories and update metadata somewhere? There's probably several more questions but that will get us started. X# Bandol GA 2.0 released

Good day VFPers, As promised by the DevTeam the above version was released to the Paid members today. The public release will follow in a weeks time. Some exciting news: VFP DBF files are now supported (read/write) with DBC to follow soon. Xs2Ado an ADO driver for DBF like interfacing to SQL will also be released later this week. And I believe most important of all, the DevTeam will soon release the Compiler source code also in the public domain! Hope this is of interest to some. [NF] X# final bug fixes before public release

Hi all ProFoxers, Just an update regarding the public release. Some minor issues were encountered and a paid release of X# was made for final testing before the public opensource release. Some of the VFP highlights announced (https://xsharp.info) FoxPro class defines will be addressed after this release to hopefully be implemented by swfox. Hope this is of interest to most, Johan Nel George, South Africa. *Compiler* * The TEXT .. ENDTEXT command has been implemented in the compiler (FoxPro dialect only) * The \ and \\ commands have been implemented (FoxPro dialect only) * Procedures in the FoxPro dialect may now return values. Also the /vo9 options is now enabled by default in the FoxPro dialect. The default return value for a FUNCTION and PROCEDURE is now TRUE in the foxpro dialect and NIL in the other dialects. *Runtime* * Added support functions for TEXT .. ENDTEXT and TextMerge and an output text file. * We have added several FoxPro system variables (only _TEXT does something at this moment)
