Google API for Geocoding ... Again

Fellow Gentlemen, I posted a request about doing geocoding requests to receive back a Lat/Long dataset for various addresses a few weeks ago and now find that Google do in fact provide a Geocoding service: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/geocoding/start The responses back from the requests are all JSON from a Java Script API run by Google. I have looked over Rick's Westwind site to try and get a start on using this method to get back a JSON response but seem to be getting nowhere fast. Anyone got any ideas on a simple & neat way of retrieving this data back using VFP programmatically? Either that or anyone know a free Geocoding site that would handle up to 100 name and address calls per day ideally by sending a text file and receiving one back which could be automated from the VFP end. Never even looked at Web services in anger before so it all seems a little baffling and terribly long winded at the moment unless I am missing something obvious. Note I don't want to have to drop into an intermediate program/language to accomplish this, if possible. Dave

Initialising in a Class

Hello: I have been experimenting with the Shape control. One of the things that I wanted to do want to have one shape have the same colour as the form's BackColor. This led to define class ... * No procedure or function statement here! BackColor=ThisForm.BackColor but VFP does not like this. Apparently, there is some limitation to the expression being evaluable at compile-time. I had to create an Init to do the initialisation. Or am I missing something? VFP: Using ODBC to connect to a VFP Table...

Would someone mind answering this question please.... my company is trying to automate the removal of users from a variety of systems. For our old VFP app I have pointed them in the direction of using the ODBC Drivers to accomplish this... Essentially all they have to do is open a table, and either modify or delete the users record.... Would someone please let me know how that might be setup? As you can tell I have very little experience with ODBC... TIA/Happy Holiday! T'was The Night [NF]

Twas the night before crisis, and all through the house, Not a program was working, not even a browse. The programmers were wrung out, too mindless to care, Knowing chances of shipping hadn't a prayer. The users were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of inquiries danced in their heads. When out in the lobby there arose such a clatter, That I sprang from my cube to see what was the matter. And what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a SUPER PROGRAMMER, oblivious to fear. More rapid than eagles, his programs they came, And he whistled and shouted and called them by name: On Update! On Add! On Inquiry! On Delete! On Batch Jobs! On Closing! On Functions Complete! His eyes were glazed over, his fingers were lean, >From weekends and nights in front of the screen. A wink of his eye, and a twist of his head, Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread. He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, Turning specs into code, then he turned with a jerk. And laying his finger on the ENTER key, The system came up, and worked perfectly. The updates, updated; the deletes, they deleted; The inquiries, inquired; and the closing completed. He tested each whistle, he tested each bell, With nary an abend, and all had gone well. The system was finished, the tests were concluded, The client's last changes were even included! [NF] Happy Holidays To Everyone!

I may not get another chance to post this between now and Christmas as I will be traveling to be with family later today, but I wanted to wish everyone in the ProFox Group Happy Holidays! My life is better for having gotten to know all of you in terms of sharing our love and interest in FoxPro! Your assistance when I needed it has been greatly appreciated even if I didn't say so at the time and I resolve to do a better job of that better next year! The tips I find in the answers to the questions from others are like gold and I feel no matter how much I learn about FoxPro, this group continues to teach me something new almost every day. I just wish I had time to take advantage of all of the cool stuff y'all share with the group! Seriously, whatever Holiday you are celebrating this time of year, I hope you and yours enjoy the best the season has to offer! Thanks to everyone who contributes their time and knowledge to make this one of the best programming groups I've ever been associated with! I will return the favor every chance I get!
