Trying again....Microsoft Surface Pro 3 for sale

(This never showed up from yesterday...subject was [NF] Microsoft Surface Pro 3 for sale -- what's a good fair price?) I've been needing a replacement laptop for awhile now. My old Dell Latitude 5530 is about 5-6 years old I think. Got a buddy of mine (so friend's discount to be included!) who's got an extra Windows Surface Pro 3 laptop he's willing to sell me. Told me to tell him what's a fair price. He's not a techie. Hardly used; maybe 2 months. Specs: Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Intel Core i7 6650 U CPU @ 2.2GHz 8 GB RAM 64-bit OS Windows 10 Pro "Pen and Limited Touch Support" 238 GB hard drive No CD/DVD docking station with plenty of ports Thoughts?

Hi All, This weekend we had a hosted Windows 2008 R2 server go down. On investigating we found a process running 100% CPU. It was running a BitCoin pool miner! Found some other suspect stuff so this server is now offline. I suspect it might be related to the recent NSA hack release. https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/04/14/latest_shadow_brokers_data_dump/ Luckily there was nothing critical running on this server. -- Paul

Everyone: A prospective client of mine located in the Greater Denver CO Metro Area hired a programmer a few years back who came in and reprogrammed all of their internal software in C# using LINQ To Entities framework and Windows Presentation Foundation. Once he got their systems up and running, he abruptly left the company without leaving anyone behind who could program or maintain the systems he created. I know there are a lot of FoxPro programmers out there are using the technologies required by this company, and I believe this group can help me get this job opportunity in front of the right people without making the client's situation worse, i.e.: by having unqualified or unscrupulous people contact them. They've been screwed already and I don't want to have that happen to them again if possible. I can provide the full job specs to anyone who is seriously interested in this full-time job opportunity and you should know they have also started their search with the usual suspects in the job search market place. VFP EXE and RDS random crashes

Throwing this out to the collective wisdom. I've recently rolled out a hosted environment for my application. So I'm in the cloud... I've been observing random hard application errors, particularly around running reports. Of course, it's not consistent. A user will be able to run a report with no errors just fine one time and then other times the same report will just result in an application crash. What I'm seeing in the Windows application log when this happens are mainly C6 errors. The Google gave me some recommendations about setting the EXE and the runtime DLLs read-only but I'm hoping that out there in Profox land this might ring some bells. Copying the Virtual Player folder to a new machine, I get this error trying to mount the virtual drive: A disk read error occured Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart I have not found an answer on the Vmware site nor with google. Just a reminder - STRTOFILE and FILETOSTR are limited by the size of a memory variable - 16,384K bytes (16,777.184 bytes). [NF] Online databases

Hey, all. I'm playing with the idea of writing an app for community band librarians to store their catalogs in. I actually use a Google Sheets file for the Bangor Band, because I'm worried about maintainability for the next person, but I've had a couple of ideas that would make sense to do this as a shared online database app. Since hosting the database myself right now isn't practical, I was wondering if anyone has experience with using a cloud database, and how to get started. I'm leaning towards VB.Net (as a learning project), which makes me think about SQL Azure, but I don't really know anything about it. Cost is a big factor here, if for no other reason that I don't want to waste much money during the development phase. VFP App: Sluggish response on network....

Good Morning, Have an application that has been running for years, we add transactions via one form that displays the transactions in a grid. When adding we pop a form, when saving I do the old append blank gather memvar thing. Has worked well until recently... Now there is a long pause before the screen is displayed to add these transactions, and a lag when saving a record.... The odd thing is that running it from the server it runs fine. If I run from my local machine it is fine. Even copied it out to another network and it was fine as well... Nothing unusual in getting the form ready to display. As mentioned just a quick append blank gather memvar on the add.... Network response from other applications is fine.... Any thoughts?
