Google API for Geocoding ... Again

Fellow Gentlemen, I posted a request about doing geocoding requests to receive back a Lat/Long dataset for various addresses a few weeks ago and now find that Google do in fact provide a Geocoding service: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/geocoding/start The responses back from the requests are all JSON from a Java Script API run by Google. I have looked over Rick's Westwind site to try and get a start on using this method to get back a JSON response but seem to be getting nowhere fast. Anyone got any ideas on a simple & neat way of retrieving this data back using VFP programmatically? Either that or anyone know a free Geocoding site that would handle up to 100 name and address calls per day ideally by sending a text file and receiving one back which could be automated from the VFP end. Never even looked at Web services in anger before so it all seems a little baffling and terribly long winded at the moment unless I am missing something obvious. Note I don't want to have to drop into an intermediate program/language to accomplish this, if possible. Dave

(Re-sending....) I'm getting ready to do some Python learning on PluralSight.com and the dude mentioned PyQT for desktop applications. Ed & Paul (and others) -- your thoughts on that? Was interested in your take since you did Dabo for desktop applications with Python. Thanks! --Mike

[NF] Web GUI Toolkit recommendation

All, I am getting involved with a project where I'll be doing some web page implementation. Python will probably be our main code choice and we'll hosting on Linux servers. We are pretty sure we're going to use Django as the primary framework, but we need a GUI component "package" or whatever (we really don't want to go build that stuff from scratch). Primary requirements (most important first): 1) open source (essentially it needs to be "free" for internal use in our organization) 2) have a robust "grid" component (think of VFP's grid control) 3) easily integrate with Django 4) be extensible/customizable I have spent several hours of web searching and found various references: like DXHTML (has a free option, but limited), Bootstrap, jQuery, etc. The little gotchas I keep hitting are stuff like jQuery is great, but to get a "grid" you gotta use a "plugin" ... and then those plugins cost money... blah blah blah So, I'd like to hear what other people have used, hated, loved, etc. Sorry for requesting your mental burn cycles on this, but I have RTFI (Read the F'n Internet) and I really need input from folks I trust. Please do not waste my time with recommendations of Microsoft frameworks/code/tools. TIA, -Charlie

Oh, yes, there are some solutions, but unfortunately, there is no standard. And many of the richer features require security compromises. 3) When something fails, is it due to a bug?
