Weird Compilation error

Gentlemen, I have a VCX library which we have developed that uses collections and I keep getting a compilation error: Visual Class Library d:\dev\flexipol\flexispec\classes\traffic_light.vcx has the following errors: Unknown OCOLLECTION_X - Undefined The collection is mainly used in the "myRefresh" event of the component (base class is a container) and is initialised to null on the property sheet, subsequently getting populated in the actual <<container>>.oCollection_Assign method:: * ControlSource_Assign Method Lparameters vNewVal Local oCollection_1 As Collection Local I This.oCollection = Evaluate(vNewVal) This.Control_Source = m.vNewVal oCollection_1 = This.oCollection ... etc. The collection thus assigned is manipulated in the myRefresh method and basically parsed through element by element refreshing a discrete control for every instance in the collection. * myRefresh Method Local oCollection_x as Collection local I local oLight Local lDoTextMerge local cOldAlias cOldAlias = Alias() oCollection_x = This.oCollection I=1 For Each oObj In oCollection_x ... etc etc. All the coding works despite this damned error being thrown at compile time and I have tried all types of External commands thinking that the oCollection not being found could be fixed as you do with external arrays. However there isn't an "External Collection" command... so I am now stuck! Any ideas? Dave

ProTip: Filer on Win10 64-bit

While trying to test solutions to Sytze's question, I wanted to use Filer to locate some files, and got an error 1733 when trying to run the program: DO form HOME(6)+"filer\filer" When you try to execute the find, it reports that Filer.dll is not registered, and offers to do this for you. It then reports failure, Error 1733, method find, line 42, Class definition FILER.FILEUTIL is not found. Here's the trick: Locate the two VC runtime DLLs MSVCR71.DLL and MSVCP711.DLL Start a command prompt with Administrator access and navigate to the Filer directory Issue: regsvr32 filer.dll and you should get a success message. If it fails or things go funky, try: regsvr32 /r filer.dll to un-register the COM DLL and you can try again. JPG files refuse to show themselves

Common File Document Validation

I work in a Windows Network environment. We're interested in purchasing or building a system that does document validation on our documents across our servers. We're needing a system that goes through our servers and file systems, logging directories of documents, performing a hash on the file and storing that information. If the hash has changed from previous hashed values, trigger a document validation process. We want to make sure that the file is a valid format of the file that it says that it is. Examples: Is the file MyFile.PDF a valid PDF file? Is the file MyFile.xlsx a valid Excel file? Common file types would be: * PDF * TIFF * DOC and DOCX * XLS and XLSX * JPG * GIF * PNG * ... etc. There are some PDF validation tools such as XPDF, PDFInfo, and ImageMagick but is there something more general? Is there a system to purchase that would do what I've stated above? I can build the system if need be, but purchasing is preferable. If not, a command line validation routine would be very helpful. I have a client who has now lost their transaction history file for the 2nd time. By that I mean, all records between 23rd of March and sometime in August 2016 I've checked the file. The records are not there with a deleted flag. They're gone, as if deleted and packed. It's most bizarre, and of course, my system gets the blame. About the only thing I've noticed with their system is they run iCloud on their Windows 10 pc. It pops up about every 15 secs in the right hand system tray, to say it has synchronised some files. My system has maybe 75 free standing dbf/fpt/cdx files. The corrupted history file only has about 10,000 records, where, on 2 occasions, 120 records have disappeared. Better way of determining resulting Excel column from integer?

(Retrying to send this for the 3rd time; this time I trimmed the bottom) I've got a need to know which Excel column a value will be placed using an integer number. I came up with this routine below but it seems klunky, and although it works, I was wondering if someone had a better way? Scrambled environment?

I'm running VFP 9.0 sp2. When I try to modify a project, unselected tabs for "All", "Data", "Documents", "Classes", "Code", and "Other" appear. When I click on one of the tabs the appropriate items display but I don't have the buttons on the right that let me manage the components and compile the code. I have exited and reopened VFP multiple times with no change. How do I get my buttons back? Thanks in advance!
